Hmm.... Black rims with a copper stripe.... Hmmm...
Jeeeze, thanks Skooter. But I'd settle for being your bartender or your god, or something with fewer responsibilities. Can't take the pressure...Dude! That is AWESOME!
Finally, a custom paint job that is unique with the design and multi-colors.
You're my HERO!
Wow! I like!I got the bike back from Underground Colors here in San Francisco nearly a month ago, but hadn't taken a decent photo yet to publish until this weekend, when I was up in Napa Valley.
Pete the Painter at Underground did a great job. I've always liked the bold stripe stuff that BMW was using on some bikes like their Rockster and K1200RS, so I borrowed that. I mocked up a PhotoShop image for Pete and he just nailed it exactly, right down to the fade on the trailing edge and the bottom (which you can't really see in this shot very well).
I would have done the whole front of the bike including the upper cowling, but I wanted to keep it less expensive, and save myself the enormous work of pulling off that upper cowling. I'm happy with the compromise. It's kinda like getting a 2-tone for the price of a single-tone. To emphasize the "cheap" part, I painted the silver plastic strip on the bottom of the tank myself. Not bad for government work.
Hope y'all like it, and that it gives some other people an idea about how to do a little custom look on the cheap.

Also the current drummer for "The New Cars" with Todd Rundgren. Thanks to everyone for the nice comments and suggestions.
As a side note, and I'm dating myself here, one of the painters at Underground Colors is Prairie Prince, the drummer from the Tubes. A 70's & 80's group that made Alice Cooper look like an amateur in terms of staged extravaganzas.
The first day there I was walkin' down the stairs into their shop, (it REALLY is Underground Colors), and Prairie was walkin' up. I said "I know you. You used to chop a beautiful damsel in half with a chain saw on stage while you were singing What Do Ya Want From Life". He says, "Yep, that's me. Wait 'til ya see what we're gonna do with your bike !" A little San Francisco moment ...
Pretty amazing guy, eh? I had no idea about "The New Cars" ... or a lot of the other associations past and present. Some folks are just too talented for their own good. Or maybe it's just that I'm such a slacker it seems that way. Also the current drummer for "The New Cars" with Todd Rundgren. Thanks to everyone for the nice comments and suggestions.

I've been thinking about doing something like that to my 05, BUT! it's BLUE!
I fell in love with copper and black Kawa ZX-14 at the Long Beach Motorcycle show last Dec.
Very Cool.
