well i got a shower this morning that feels much better.pain not too bad morphine was at the hospital only and i hated the feeling of it. trying to avoid pain pills have taken 2 though. all in all i feel much better today
Clarification: All comments about your wife-unit were extremely tongue-in-cheek. I know you have a good one who cares, hence the "constant reminders" (aka-nagging).

Take your pain meds! Have "Nancy Nurse" (Your missus) stop at the pharmacy and buy some stool softeners. Take one with each med-dose and you won't havwe any issues.

The meds will ease the pain and help you rest. Rest is a key to your recovery...when you're in pain you are rest-less. Get it? Broken ribs and cracked shoulder blade will cause you to wince every time you move, even in your sleep and it will interrupt the deep sleep cycle you need.

Trust me, though I am not a medical person, nor have I ever played on on stage or movies, I have been the recipient of good care and information.

Heal quickly and heal well.

Thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Been 6 months in a recliner from my get off. Just got back into the bed last week. Lots and I mean lots of pain meds, it is the only thing that will alow you to sleep to heal. Blood pressure is an indicator of pain management so if yours is high adjust meds until it comes close to normal.

Here in Pennsatucky it is horned rat heaven. They are a real issue at night.

Hope you rest comfortable and heal well.

as for the wife she has been good. that was more of a joke than anything.dont get me wrong though she would love it if the bike were gone. been riding for 40 years and she knows if they cut my veins open bike parts would be mixed in with the blood. shes been good

So what caused the injuries Beach? Did you go over the bars? The bike in the foto looks in pretty good shape!

As others have said, take time to heal, and really glad you're Ok!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Get well. At least it is cold out, hopefully the freezer is well stocked now ;)

Get well soon.

When you feel better give us an update on how your gear handled things and any insight to what might have helped avoid such a strike (most likely not thing with these stupid animals). :)

Beachy, I hope 2011 leaves you ready to ride in the spring time. As a fellow new guy, care to sit at the end of the racing bench and listen to the Friday boys hoot and holler? I can't say they are all throttle blips and exhaust notes-I've seen'um bite and hang on-but mostly their comments are adolescent-caustic-male- and harmless. No need to mention names, a few pages deep on any thread and you'll come to know them, and want to keep reading. You recover well boy-ya hear!

Beachy,

Glad to hear that you survived and will heal. Your gear and the bike did their jobs and protected you from more serious injury. Before you know it, you will be back onthe bike and riding again. Heal quickly and get a new helmet.

thanks every one for thoughts, prayers and well wishes not feeling too bad today pain meds working. picked up bike today damage seems to be mainly

left side tupperware, windshield and stator cover. didnt get into front fairing.all in all pretty good. as far as gear i was wearing. shoie full face took a hard hit,did a great job its been 60 hours no sign of concussion. heavy leather jacket padded not armored.armored may have helped shoulder.

pants were long underware, jeans, carhart overalls nothing ripped legs not injured.it happened real fast but the best i can remember was going about 45-50 mph seeing deer jump into the road from my left hitting her pretty much square, going off kinda over the bars and off to the left. initial hit was head and left shoulder. i wish i could say i did something to keep things as minimal as they are but all i can say is i was blessed.and yes my wife did keep the deer she is at the butcher.my wifes friend where we picked the bike up from they told us they have lost 3 friends to bike deer collisions so i think its a pretty happy ending but i will enjoy eating that deer even if i dont like deer meat

Good to read your posting. Hell of a way to get a new avatar picture but damn proud of of you for taking it to the butcher. Some sort of justice in that plus you can always make some tasty jerky out of that doe.

Wish you a rapid recovery!

Your incident re-instills my fear of running into deer with my 2005 FJR. I see them every dusk and dawn on my way into work and once hit one heading into work one morning. Fortunately for me (but not for the mule deer) that it was with my car, not the bike. Those mule deer are beefy (or deery)!

All the Best,

Ron

Sorry to hear about you getting hurt and glad you'll be able to recover.

Love the poetic justice though!

Here's some good reading about forest rats for you & the wifey:

Heal quickly Beachy! And enjoy that venison! To eliminate most of the gamey taste, make sure to trim off anything other than red meat. Gristle, fat and the "silver skin" along the surface of steaks are where the gamey taste comes from.

Here in WA state, it's illegal to take such a deer home for consumption. What a crazy law! If a deer causes damage to me and my FJR, it ought to at least pay for it in the form of steaks!
