That's a nice bike. Sorry for not bashing! I had a 2003 VTX1800-R. We loved that bike. Balls for days, and just fun to ride. I was burning through floor boards though, so I moved on to my FJR. I had a set of Vance&Hines Big Shots on it. It sounded awesome, and the power difference from stock was amazing.
A few years after I got my FJR, my brother showed up with an 1800C that a friend of his was selling. I took it for a ride, and was surprised how many times I hit the Rev limiter, looking for more pull. Haha...When I first rode my FJR, going over 5k was weird and then not long after, I began looking for a power band above 5k. Funny how we get used to things.

Have fun with that bike. You'll like it! With the V&H pipes, mine was making like 100bhp, and 108lb/ft of torque on a dyno, at 5100 feet of elevation. BTW, that 5 gallon tank is good for around 150 miles, MAX. I was usually looking for a station around 110 miles.
Thanks for the advice. Didn't realize the pipes could make that kind of a difference. It's supposed to have a Power Commander on it, but I pulled the seat to charge the battery and did not see it. I have no idea where those go....maybe under the tank?

Always good to have another tool to the toolbox!

I've often thought a cruiser would be fun to add to the stable although with two bikes already, another one would be a tough sell to the CFO!

AWESOME!!!! I love that color!!!!!

so this should mean those FJR tires might get worn less.... don't worry, I'll still take them off your hands for ya. LOL!

Congrats on the new bike. and congrats on riding it home in the cold. and definitely congrats on making it through the neighborhood on those roads!!!! WOW!

I think the PC does sit under the tank.

^^^^I had a PC-III on mine. It was right under the seat. I never lifted the tank on that bike, so I don't know if there's space under there for one or not. Not very convenient place though, because they have to be plugged into a computer to program them. Look for a ring terminal on the battery, and the plug-in in the main harness, in that same box area. It can't be hard to find, if it's there.

I'll look again under the seat, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary or labeled Power Commander. It all looked stock.

I won't buy a used bike in the Winter again. I thought I'd get "Winter Pricing" on used bikes, but I don't think it's worth the headaches and I don't think people really reduced their asking price much, if at all. No test ride, had to trust the guy selling it (which he did seem trustworthy at the time). My ride home I was so bundled up I couldn't feel the controls very well and in this case couldn't hear myself think. Loud pipes may save lives but it was killing me.

No cruiser bashing from me. I still have mine. 60k on the odometer. I don't ride it near as much now that I have the FJR, but I still like it.

In fact I am getting the brakes redone right now. Thinking to keep it.

It's a nice change of pace from the FJR.

That is sharp. And great picture. Kind of harsh to post when it is snowing outside.....
