Best of New England and Eastern New York

Here are the very best Roads, Scenic Views, Destinations, Restaurants, and Accomodations in New England and Eastern New York as selected by New England Riders: https://www.newenglandriders.org/BestOfNewEngland/BestOfNewEngland.htm

Everything is free and is our way of giving back to the Motorcycle Community. All Best Roads are given as Google Maps, GPS GPX, and Streets & Trips.

I have begun adding videos and photos.

This is a great resource that is the result of years of work.

Mr Edziu!

I used your maps to make my way through Vermont and back this week for the NERDS rally.

Rt 12 is a back breaker. Frost has really done a job on this one.

The gaps are in better shape than I've ever seen them and unfortunately they are paving more of them.

Thank you!

Mr Bill

What stretch of 12 was bad? Morrisville to Montpeiler was bad in June.

I was on Dog River Road (fun dirty road) in Montpeilier and headed South along VT12 back home this morning. I had to stop halfway down the road to take a break it was so bad. Of course it wouldn't have been so bad if I did the speed limit, but the music I was listening to made me ride a little fast.

That is too bad. 12 is a very nice road when it is in decent condition. You should ride slower like I do.

I have to agree with Mr Bill on this road. I rode up to NERDS and RT 12 from Bethel to Montpeiler was BUMPY (and I did it at the speed limit, well maybe 5 over).

I had to wick it up a little because I came up behind a blue smoke bellowing HD. The guy started hammering the poor old thing when I got up close. I just wanted to get out of the stink so I got past him in a sweeping corner. Thank you Mr Penske.

Thanks for the link Easy Ed!! That is a great resource for us NorthEasterners.

For those not familiar with the NER forum, they are a good bunch. Mr Bill organized the Puppy Dog Excursion this past May with some friends he has from that forum and this one, so it was sort of a melding of the two groups. All of the guys that I met on that ride would have fit in perfectly with this bunch. The only big differences are that they do not dwell on the intricacies of a single brand of bike, and they don't seem to have anyone quite as whacky as some of the nut jobs we have around here. :p I also find the old forum software NER runs on to be tough to navigate, but that is just a technicality.

Maybe some time in the future we can have some sort of a dual forum event with the two forums openly invited. I think we were trying to do that on the recent RIMBY ride that got pushed out by weather, so was lightly attended. Perhaps we could do a joint "Covered Bridges" ride this fall? Something to ponder.

It would be great to have a ride together!

Cool. Let's make it happen.

We usually run the Covered Bridges ride in early October. It's kind of a forum tradition. Just a one day weekend ride for those in the area already with an option to take a second day ride on Sunday, but we usually get a few folks that will come in from further away and overnight either before or after or both. It's not a very sporty ride. More of a 2-up compatible foliage gawking and photo shooting affair. It might be the perfect ice breaker. I'll post up details on both forums in a while.

Great site. I was home for the holidays (home being Northampton, MA) and went up to Killington to ski with my brother. Decided I want to do that route at some point this summer (was a beautiful drive), but nice to see other routes I can hit when back home too.

I am working on our page for Central & Western NY. I have not added anything yet, but I plan to add roads, restaurants, etc.: https://www.newenglandriders.org/Great_Routes_and_Rides/Outside%20NE/New%20York.htm

Only one minor correction to your original post, for the sake of truth, Mr. Ed.

Better? Otherwise, looks great. Love to ride it all one of these years.

Mr Eddie did a lot of work to set it up then had a lot of fun testing out the rides.

Ed gathered peoples favorites so everything is suggested by riders in the area.

The only problem is the lack of muddy roads on his maps, but people in these parts tend to keep that secret.
