Its time once again to put together a ride up to Big Bear. General idea is around the 21st of May. With the weather this year I seriously doubt Angeles Crest will be open. Any other ideas? Redland up the 38 is beautiful but how many times can you do it?

What does 39 outside of Azusa do the further north you go? I was thinking of linking up in Azusa taking 39 up to 2 across to 138 to 173 coming around the back side of Arrowhead to Crest Park to 18 all the way to Big Bear. I was thinking lunch at Old Country Inn because that has always been the best experience for a larger crowd and the outside seating. I was also thinking of Big Bear Mountain Brewery due to its vast menu. Big Bear Mountain Brewery Menu.

This route should entice the LA people to join us.

Give me some input on any interest or route ideas.

I'm interested. Did I mention my new GF lives in Redlands and LOVES to ride? My only challenge is that I have my young daughters every other weekend so I have a 50% chance of being available depending the date. I will have them the weekend of May 21st but am available the weekend before and after.

I'm in if Simon doesn't go.
Brother Lanny, this seems to be an often recurrent theme on the SoCal FJR Forum threads!

Jerry, for what it is worth: May 21 coincides with the arrival of WheatonFJR, Griff and Aireboss "The Rolling Illinois (Indiana) Cluster ****" to NorCal. Our bodacious and buxom Miss Tyler has us booked at Bodega Bay for the night of 5/21. I already know that Fairlaner and his date dj bill are booked up for that event.

Since Malve has his daughters for May 21, if you moved the Big Bear ride up to May 14, you may get a larger riding audience. I would coax the Zonies to ride over, we would get a motel up in Big Bear for Saturday night and ride back to The Valley of the Blast Furnace early on Sunday morning. If Simon doesn't go!

Simon, please don't take this personally.

I mean, I'm certain it IS personal, ...but please don't take it that way.

Take heart Simon, at least johnny80s loves you; in the Biblical sense, very biblical indeed!
I am in if Simon doesn't go. Any weekend is good for me.

Skooter is the one he is in love with. Last time I checked that means the problem is in your family not mine, skooter being your illegitimate ******* type son and all.

beemerdons, I understand oh to well the plight of scheduling, this is why I was throwing this out so early so there is plenty of time for adjustment. The scary part is the weather we are having this year. It really makes me want to push for later than sooner. I am now looking at June 11 instead of May 14. Once all this rain stops CALTrans is going to need cleanup time. Also with TCFJR pointing out the 39 being shut down rerouting needs to be done. I am trying to find roads most have never or would never travel if it were not for this ride. I have never ridden the NE side of Arrowhead, IE why I put the route over there. La Canada floods under over cast skys why always needs cleanup. Hwy 2 is always an amazing ride because it is so rarely traveled.

I will work on the route to Big Bear but in the mean time look for this to take place on 11 June.

Fully understood Slappy, I plan rides for my BMW Club AZ Beemers all of the time; and it is impossible to arrange a date where everybody can make it!

On June 11, Papa Chuy Viejo and Miss Lucy Liu my 2003 FJR will be blasting off to Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada for CFR 2011. Picking Seth up in Vermont.

Jerry, if you need to borrow my abalone iron to keep johnny80s and FJRBluesman separated, just let me know, and I can mail it off to you. Saludos y Recuerdos, BeemerDonS

Man! I feel the love... so to speak. I need to take a vacation from this joint again...
Hey slappy-happy-pappy-dooo-doooo;

Turn this into a poll (not that type of poll you perv). Put out some dates in there, gather the data, crunch the numnbers, and make it happen. If you need help call J80's, beemnedons, OM, or Lanny. I'm sure between them you'll have half a brain. :D

The route could be up through Idylwild to Big Bear and back again over Idylwild. Same road but different directions each time. You know, like front door in the morning and then back door in the afternoon.

As far as the new date, June 11th looks good so far. And there was talk of a camp out ride again up in Laguna Campground around mid May and again in September. We must plan and make reservations soon.
