As it cools down and people come in doors after racking up copious amounts of miles on their bike...it's reminder time on some board etiquette.
This doesn't apply to everyone if there was a way to easily target the people who need to hear this message...I really would. Really I would.
Regardless, some reminders to help us navigate the colder months without resorting to poking people with sharp sticks.
Thanks for playing along.

Board Posting Tips and Other Etiquette
Forum Categories
FJR Specific Discussion is for items directly about the FJR....the stock FJR to be specific....that aren't covered in other areas.
This is the number one area people try and stuff threads incorrectly because it's easy and popular. In fact, last survey was 14 out of 37 had to be moved. That's a little over 1/3 and a lot of work for admins that would otherwise like to do other things to make the forum better.
Hint #1: If it isn't stock on the FJR it definitely doesn't belong in this area.
Many of the mis-started threads actually belong in Part and Accessories. You want to talk about that add-on PCIII, that after-market exhaust system, a Yamaha top case that didn't come with the bike as a stock item, that jacket or set of gloves, etc.......then start it in

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showforum=57.
Hint #2: Don't be placing it in this area because you want to "maximize exposure". That's a guaranteed way to annoy an admin
.
Regional Ride Planning and the sub areas are for planning or information that is regional in nature. You saw somebody in your area of the country? This is also a good area for that.
Hint #3: Not sure which area to plan a ride? Please post only once in either your best guess...or start it in the level higher.
Ride Reports are for after you've done a ride....not before. Think of this area as past tense. Also an appropriate area for short rides or even the occasional drop....doh!
Never Ending Pointless Recurring Threads
You can't actually start a thread in this area. If yours gets moved...ask yourself if it was a recurring thread talked about many times before because you maybe didn't do a search. Apire to post something new and different and feel good if something doesn't get move.
Hint #4: Almost all threads about gas, oil, or tires have been talked about many, many times.
Search and look through

Other Things
- No Double Posting. Once is enough. Once is enough. And three times is just way too much.
- Summarize Your Thread in the Title. Just Say No to Teaser Threads that end with..... We're to big a board with too much traffic to expect people to click on every link. Help the board to give a clue what the thread is about. (Hint #5: Teaser threads also annoy Admins)
- CAPS, Exclamation Points!!!!!, and Grammar. Probably not the end of the world, but MAKING THAT TITLE ALL CAPS!!! or thinking this is a MySpace chatroom and you have "m4d sk1llz" (LOL) will probably garner unwanted attention from an admin. Remember that a well-crafted post is going to get more and better attention while inviting less dogpiling.
- Don't hijack threads. Stay on the topic originally posted. Hint #6: If you start to say, "This is off topic, but...", "A little hjaak....", "It reminds me of another thing...." or something similar then it's a thread hijack and you should go start another thread instead.
- Please use Your Edit Privilege judiciously if you have it.
- Selling, trading, spotting cool deals elsewhere (like eBay) go in Classified Ads - For Sale...even if you're not the one selling.
- Purposely miscategorizing a thread and ignoring common etiquette is a good way to make members and admins want to find a sharp stick to use.
