As I was coming dow Angelest Forest Hwy I saw this guy go down from a distance..This happened around noon time Sunday Oct 26th 2008. This guy claims he hit big rocks but i took some pictures and didnt see any rocks or sand.

Riding was complaning about his left shoulder, Had a visable compound fracture to his left leg. He was airlifted from a LA sheriff helecopter. His name was Terry anyone here know him?

Ahh, such sweet memories this video produces.

Not to minimize, but at least it was the tibia IIRC not the femur.

I can talk about femurs..

Hey Jdog, I noticed you took the time to set up the bike camera/angle first?

You'll go far son, you will go far.. LOL.

Good Job, Jdog!

Great 'prodution'. But it is fairly clear he just blew the turn and lost it on the shoulder.

Up here we'd never see a helicopter for this type of thing . . . ride in the back of an ambulance or a patrol car.

Not much else i could have done..Just document the situation..I set up and got about 15 minutes off my rear camera, till the Leos kept pushing us back farther and farther...

Was that a car or something parked/stopped on the shoulder of your lane when you pulled up? I wonder if he saw that, freaked and then lost it. I can't believe they launched a helo for a tib/fib fracture. Maybe standard protocal for MC crashes? Ouch. Cool vid. I can't believe you don't have more like this as much as you film.

I was thinking the same thing. Tib/fib fracture... ground transport. Solitary proximal long bone fracture, ground transport. Two proximal long bone fractures.... fly them in.

JDog,

I was wondering who was riding the 05, I was in that line of bikes waiting for the Copter to lift off.

I shot you the Hi sign when you passed but then realized I wasn't standing next to my FJR, so you wouldn't understand why I waved.

30 of us were heading to Wrightwood for lunch, but had to change our plans. We turned around and headed to Newcombs Ranch.

Great Day for a ride.

I agree with brumfrank, I think he lost it in the turn and hit the shoulder, from all the dust I would guess that's what happened, because the roads were pretty clean up there.

Who was riding the BMW?

Good vid and camera shots, but did you not administer any first aid being one of the first on scene???????

I'm glad the rider wasn't any worse off!

I wonder how that chopper flies and the blades aren't turning?

That is the biggest goddamned lifeflight chopper I've ever seen. Mostly, you get the much smaller Sikorsky's or Bells. Yea, that's gonna be expensive at about $4,000 an hour or something.

Very common here.. It would take a ambulance hours to get up there..This was the first airlift of 3 more we encountered in a 2 hour span. Also we encountered hunders of bikers on the hill that day. Many croch rocket with squids racing at speeds they can't handle...

Jdog,

Nice video, sad occasion for that rider. Noticed on your web site that you like to fly. So, besides your FJR, what do you take to the skies in?

:)
