Back on topic about lightning on a bike.
A local guy, whom I've never met, but seen a few times, was traveling somewhere in the Northwest Territories about 6 or 7 years ago. An area not known for lightning to be sure. He got hit and was thrown from the bike. Given the area, he wasn't found for two days. Still alive but just. He was air lifted out to some hospital, stabilized, then once again airlifted to Calgary where he remained in hospital for a few months. He survived but his riding days are over. Apparently a sizable portion of his muscles on one side of his body were instantly 'cooked' and now has limited mobility.
I'll ride through cold, heat, heavy rain and the like but I draw the line at lightning storm. Time to get off the road and enjoy the show.
