Cool....But April?

R
The bike will be at the dealer in two to three weeks but the ice and snow won't leave till April. I won't ride till the salt and sand has been washed off the roads in the spring rains. The salt is hard on the bike and I had a very close friend die from sand in a corner riding too early in the year.

Congrats. I got an okay discount on a Ruger 10-22. Got the base model for about the price from about 10 years ago. The problem was standing in the 2 hour line to check out at Cabella's. Your deal sounds more fun all the way around.
Thanks and congrats on the 10-22. My grandfather bought me my first rifle, a 10-22, for my 14th birthday. That gun still shoots good 35 years later. Ruger is one of my customers and I helped them make the transformation from manual machining to CNC machining of the 10-22 barrel back in the early 90's. Enjoy and shoot safely!

Congrats on the new ride Twinrivers, you'll love it. I'm feeling empty with the season in Wisconsin closing now that 'salt' season started on Friday. I've got about 4 total hours on the 13. Enough to cause one to be counting days until April.

Thanks everyone! and congrats to CopB8 on your BF Purchase. The dealer had a 2004 in nice shape on his floor with 56k on it for $5k. I gave it some thought but the 2013 is worth the wait since there is little riding weather left this year.

Outstanding!

You're a better man than I am - I can't imagine having such a short riding season and such a long wait.

Congratulations.

Anyone using the aftermarket V block ("to reduce bbl droop")?

my first gun ever was a small single shot .22 rifle that my Dad taught me on when I was about 5 or so. Later is was my brother. I used it to teach my daughters with too. I still have it and will try and teach my grand kids too then pass it down.

Friend of mine just added his third (3) Barrett 50 caliber, all custom made and scoped, to his collection of more than a whole bunch of very fine long and short guns. Some of which used to be mine before I started cutting down. He took an elk down at 564 yards a couple of weeks ago, with single shot, not with a Barrett.

The long distance shooting courses he took are coming in handy.

Um, what happened?

Fine point! No sense derailing this thread over something like guns (even the products of a damned fine American like Ronnie Barrett) when we can derail it to something really important. Like Beer!

As I’m sure you’re aware, they didn’t call him “Crazy Ed” for nothing. He finally imploded and drifted off into the ionosphere. But another guy did take over his brewing operation.

https://www.totalwine.com/eng/product/cave-creek-chili-beer/160126 You want to know about beer? Ask the guy with a stomach as big as a keg: ME! Ed's Cave Creek Chili Beer is now brewed in Tecate, Baja Norte; $9 a sixer at Total Wine and More stores!

I thought this thread was about Black Friday retail shopping, which leaves it open to a number of product purchase discussions.

Bounce bought a Ruger 10/22 on Black Friday. As far as I can tell, he was squarely ON TOPIC. Don't see why he should take flak for discussion of 10/22s (or their big Barrett brothers) -- at least it wasn't your usual Black Friday perfume, jewelery or household items purchase.

So my BFP has now gone bad. When I met the dealer on Friday we came to an agreement on purchase price of the bike and YES. He asked what I would like to leave for a deposit and I said $500. He replied "that's fine" like it was more than expected. I told him I would get financing started on Monday and to let me know when he had a VIN number. On Saturday I decided to email him and tell him not to order the bike until my financing was approved. I didn't expect to have any issues but with all this fiscal cliff crap going on I really didn't know what to expect. He was very appreciative of that.

So by the COB on Monday I had financing all set. I emailed the dealer to let him know and to have him fax over the required docs to my bank. He responded that he would need proof of financing and another $500 down before he would order the bike. Now remember on Saturday he was fine with $500 down TOTAL and he was going to order the bike until I told him to wait on my financing approval.

After I went off on him he blamed it on the owners new policy he was not aware of. This guy is the MANAGER of the entire dealership. I told him to write VOID on my deposit check and mail it back to me. He backed down and told me that he'd stick to the original agreement and that my check had already been deposited. After calming down and thinking through this I decided to say *** him and go else where for my FJR. I called the bank and put a stop payment on the check.

What would you guys have done?

Thats almost exactly what happened to me except I had given them $1000 in cash, my problem was that the dealership was NOT a preferred dealer and therefor i would not get mine until the second batch...

Having said all that they did give me my deposit back (took 3 days) when i told then i had found one elsewhere....

Well both you and the dealer wanted to make changes to the written contract. While minor on your part (wait to order the bike until you say so), the dealer should have known better than to hold you up for another $500 deposit. Just plain lousy business relations. However that being said, unless there is something that happened that you didn't mention, and the deal you struck was fair, why attempt to back out? Legally, you both have a signed contract that obligates both of you to abide by its terms and both of you have recourse against the other if one of you gets cold feet or refuses to abide by the contract terms.

I did not change anything. There was nothing in the contract stating when he had to order the bike. He was just going to do it because there are few 2013 bikes available. I asked him to wait a few days just so he didn't get stuck with a bike if my financing fell through.

I would say calm down and relax. All's well. Order the FJR and get it. How do you know the next dealer is going to be any better?
