On a serious note, this sounds like lumbar spine damage, and I doubt the seat caused it. I'm guessing the nerve damage was already there and this simply exacerbated it. But who knows .. Like most things reported in the news, they only report what they think is relevant for us lay-people and we don't really know the whole story.
