Borrego Springs temps for the next few is 111 deg and it should cool down to 109 on Sat. No sweat! :diablo: https://www.accuweather.com/forecast-15day....04&metric=0

I am seriously thinking about changing the route!!!! I have to consider the pillions involved, that is awfully hot to be on the back of a bike all that time.
If you don't like alot of heat and want to change routes may I suggest:

Meet at original location (Escondido), same time and head to Julian.

But from Julian, go south on hwy 79 toward I-8, but hang left before getting there, toward Pine Valley,

Turn north on S1 (Sunrise Natl Scenic Byway) toward Julian again.

Part ways in Julian and/or continue on 79, past Warner Springs, toward Temecula.

My 2 cents.

I just did the warner springs, julian, ramona ride yesterday with a pillion. The bike showed 102 all day long and it was hot but tolerable. The sucky part was stopping so I tried to find shade every time we stopped.

They have a newer casino off the 79 near the 76 called Santa Isabella. It is really small but the air works good and the sodas are free a really nice place to cool down if your in that area.

Ok old boy with a few modifications, very minor if you will. New route and lunch stop up.

I'm trying to talk Mr. Wes Vstrom to trade that thing in for an FJR and join us.
NOOOOOOO!!!!! We'll never find our way home! All rides need one VStrom for the safety of all concerned.

Keith and Wes, hope to see you folks again...

Neil
 I will have to wait for cooler weather but would really like to meet everyone out in Borrego in the Fall of 2008. I hope you have a ride at that time. We ride out to Borrego about 6 times a year with my fellow workers at Goodrich in Chula Vista. Have a great time.

Great route. S1 is a beauty and I think goes up to 6000'? Should me some more moderate temps there.

If'n youse guys head to Borrego Springs, y'all got big ones, that will then be hot ones.

I'm still on boys and girls. Plus a buddy on a Ninja 12R.

We'll be coming from South OC, I'll meet my friend in Dana Point at 7:30am.

If anyone wants to ride to Escondido with us PM me and I'll give you the address in DP.

Simon?

San Diego we have a problem.....

It seems the wheels are falling off of this event. Dave thanks for getting this going.

OK gents, who is now our fearless leader? Is anyone from SD continuing this?

I hope this thing still goes down. I'm new to the FJR crowd and I was hoping to meet some new people this weekend. I'll be at Starbucks @ 0830, hope I'm not the only one....

Two up.

Keep it alive!!!! And no problem Bluesman... There are still people that are going to show so keep it going.

I'm still planning on making this one (two up). FYI, since Anza Borrego is out of the route, the worst heat should be going through Ramona; about 100. everywhere else will be in the low 90s range.

I may not be the best to be heading this ride up since the last ride was my first big group ride. But I can take a crack at it if no one else wants to take the lead.

I will be attending with MsNASCAR as pillion. All it takes is 2 bikes for a group ride. And besides, what is a little heat when all we want to do is meet some new faces and continue the SoCAL rides.

I would lead but there are couple side roads I'm not sure about starting out to Julian. I could lead from Julian for the second half of the ride. Let's have a blast. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
