I'd hate it if my spanking new FJR was being fondled for the first time by anyone but me. :D

This is what my '04 FJR looked like the first time I ever laid eyes on it:

The rest of the story is here.

Wonder if all dealers will be doing this. Will keep an eye on Yamaha of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and see what they do.

Sounds like it. He just called to keep you away 'til they get done turnin' your bike out. ;)

did you have any miles on your bike when u'all picked up your new 05??
A new bike will have up to 10 miles on it when you pick it up, They have to road test them. I have bought 5 new bikes and they all had a few miles on them. I think my 04' had about 7 miles.

It rained hard the day mine was ready to pick up. I went the next day and it was in the showroom, the first in line near the front door. It had less than a mile on it so I know they weren't giving test rides. I think they were just trying to let people take a look at one since they didn't have one of their own on the floor.

I was out of town when my FJR arrived and I told dealer, "Go ahead and put it on the floor if you want to show it off until I get back." He said, "Are you crazy? You don't realize how much attention these bikes get. It will be in the back, with a cover over it!"

Thanks, dealer! :) BTW, it had 10 miles on it, I think, when I got it. I was kinda in shock that day, so not really sure. :D

Mine had .1 miles on it, the dealer warmed it up and drove it out of the shop and to the front of the dealership.

My dealer does offer test drives on the FJR, on his that is, I think that's the way it should be too.

I'm giving my dealer specific orders to "NOT" let my FJR touch the showroom floor. You can mess with my wife and kids, but do not mess with my bike! Painman. :assasin:

Don't know the specific date of delivery. Am travelling presently. Will find out when I return on Friday.

Can anyone tell me WHY Yamaha does this crazy wait-in-line thing for the new FJRs? I was very reluctant to order one without the opportunity to sit on one, kick the tires etc. Ended up buying a used one instead.

-please send picture of wife! :D

My dealer called today to inform me that my bike (A model) should be here in March. My Priority Delivery Claim Form was dated 10-18-05. They'd originally told me to anticipate a June delivery, as "the California bikes arrive later". What a nice surprise, as now I can stop pouring money into my '77 KZ1000, to keep it running.

Lots of people bought '05's off showroom floors and didn't wait at all. I picked mine out last March and rode it home 2 weeks later. This went on all the way to the end of the year with guys still finding them here and there. Ya gots ta look, but they're out there.

Nothing unusual about it, at least in recent history.
