Just bought a new rear tire BT023 and guy told me that the new GT version is made for our heavier bikes......

I guess we will see how long it lasts....

Here is the sidewall.

And how much easier was it to remove the rear wheel while it was up on the lift....

Dork. It's been common knowledge around here about the 'GT' spec for quite sometime.

In fact, I just recently bought a set of the GT spec for $222.76 thanks to a tip on the forum here.

As for your 'lick' - whatever that is, well...... screw you!

:p

I'm getting to the end of my 023GT's. Are they better than PR2's, etc.? Who knows... However, I think a few things can be said for certain.

1. They outlast the 021's.

2. They fixed the front tire issue. My front's going to outlast the back--it's still round and the back's getting a pretty good flat spot.

3. For the money, I think it's a damn good tire for this bike.

Oh yeah, and......

4. IT WON'T CRACK YOUR RIM! :p

Why the lack of respect around here Fairlaner? I am shocked at the behaviour displayed by people claiming to be " fellow riders." :angry2:

All I was going to say that you as a commentor as to how long a tire will last is a bit awkward since you are always around warp 8 and above! :yahoo:

There is another thread on the Bridgestone 023 GT tires where I reported 10,000 miles to the wear bars on the rear. Still plenty on the front. Now on PR2s and we'll see.

Current PR2's have about two thousand miles left in them. I've got a set of GT's sitting in the garage ready to go...we'll see how they measure up pretty soon.

Let us know what your initial impressions are Fairlaner.

Interested to hear more about this tire. I have been happy with my PR2s but the rear is starting to look thin with 4500 miles on it. I think I'll get about the same mileage out of any of the ST tires. I am always accelerating or pulling a wheelie :glare:

On the rear, if you notice bands forming around the center:

you'll go from running on rubber to running on steel belts in around 200 miles:

It lasted me about 6800 miles. The front is still in GREAT condition at that same mileage.

I'm very happy with my 023 front. It has 8000 miles on it now and still has a lot left in it, I don't see any problem getting 10 out of it.

I've got 3357 miles on my set of BT 023 GT's. Judging from the rear tread depth (to wear bars) I don't think the rear will make it much past 5k miles. I have a set of PR2's "on deck".

I got about 5500 miles from a regular set of BT 023's (not GT's). Right now, I'm pretty sure I'm NOT impressed.

I'm due to change "NOW", if you know what I mean... (pieces of rubber starting to fly off). You 'testers' haven't spoken 'bout traction / handling. How does it do in the field of asphalt hunging department?

I find it very comparable to the PR2, although I still don't have many miles on mine...and I'm only running the front right now (rear is still a PR2)

I've run PR2's on my FJR and BT-023's (Non-GT) and haven't seen a huge difference in endurance or handling. Either tire was just as good in my opinion. With that being said, a good friend of mine who runs Mid-West Sportbikes asked if I wanted to try Michelin's PR 3's. I think I'm going to give them a try.

Spud,

Ended up contributing money to Adventure Motosports in Twin Falls yesterday. I started a trip to Salmon, ID from St. George, UT on July 15. I had 3497 miles on the BT 023 GT's. Judging from the rear tire wear bars, etc. I thought I could make the round trip. I had a new No Mar Changer and new PR2's waiting at home. Problem was I took a little side trip to Dillon, MT, and another day to Stanley, ID, which added to the "round trip".

When I stopped for fuel in Shoshone, ID yesterday (about 20 miles north of Twin Falls) my rear tire looked like your picture above. Problem was I had 500 miles to go, to get home! And that 500 miles was on US 93 through such metropolises as Wells, NV; Ely, NV; and Panaca, NV. (No moto tires in those places!!) Also, I appreciate your posting of these pics, as I had read your post and knew I didn't have many miles left.

So, upon arrival in Twin Falls I used my "smart" phone to find the aforementioned dealer. They were great, sold me a Metzeler Z8, and I was on my way 2 hours later, but it was a very expensive lesson. I'd purchased the No Mar because of the high labor charges associated with tire changes/balancing. I should have changed the tire before I left. The dealer did a good job, got me outa there quick, but charged a premium. I guess I don't blame them, either. Expensive lesson learned, if there's any question, put new tire(s) on!!

How many miles did I get out of the rear BT 023 GT?? 4937 miles. The front tire still looks good with a little flat spot and some cupping. It will go for awhile longer. I'll see how far this Metzeler goes, and then the PR 2's.

Oh, and on this set I did no 2 up riding, and 2 longer trips of 1k + miles with loaded side cases.

Bob

Yikes. Hoping for better mileage than what you guys are getting on the 023s. I haven't spooned them on yet. We shall see. Currenty running the Conti Motions which are my absolute favorite tire so far for stick and handling and even ride quality. And they are CHEAP too! But I don't expect to get much life out of them.
