So after the AE incident in Manchester a few weeks ago, it only seemed fair to let Brodie tweak my joy handle in return.

In preparation for my Wyoming trip coming up in about 2 weeks, I had wanted to install a set of Motoboss foam grips that I had seen on his bike. Seeing as how he had experience with Dawn and slipping them on (so to speak), I asked if he would help me install them. Brodie, ever the gentleman, said of course!

So he showed up and we chatted about bikes and families and kids and riding and, of course, farkling... wonderful conversation as he whipped out his Dawn (liquid detergent), soaped the grips up, and slid them on. (Criminies... even I am at a loss for all the potential euphemism commentary on this one! ).

Then he asked if I was familiar with the Vista Cruise (throttle lock) which I was and had on one of my previous bikes and loved! He said, well, I have a little more free time so let's go get it and install it. And so off to Road Rider we went in search of a gel seat (my quest) and the Vista Cruise. I can't remember the last time I went shopping at the mall but they know me by first name at the moto-shops!

Purchases acquired, we headed back to my garage and after a few moments of figuring things out, Brodie said that we needed to adapt a couple of the parts to fit the FZ. Off to Orchard Supply he went to get a screw and files and a hacksaw (which he generously donated to my garage components) and set to fitting the parts to the handlebar.

Brodie is a machinist by trade but from my untrained eyes, he is a bit of a magician. Filing this down, cutting this back, making a new cut on the part, etc., etc. I kinda felt like a mere mortal witness to the finesse of the Master Farkler (can we call him an MF?). Conquer the challenge he did and I now have a couple more really cool additions to the bike to ready me for the coming journey (trying to keep up you farkling gents... I think I have a long way to go though!).

Brodie, just wanted to say thank you for your time and ingenuity in helping me get these "little" things on the bike... I know it's going to make the trip so much better... you ROCK!! Pie run soon!! :clapping:

It was my pleasure to work with you on your bike. My goal is to help make your bike a joy to ride on your tour, which is coming up in less than 2 weeks. I'm glad we made the repair as well as adding the VistaCruise. The last thing you need to think about should be "Will my bike make it home?"

Just so everyon knows, Tyler has another friend from the SBR forum that serviced the "new to her" FZ1. He did a good job, fresh brake fluid, coolant change, valve adjustment, and other things. The bike is in fine shape and should work very well for the trip. I caught a stripped thread on the throttle cable clamp at the hand grip that the previous owner jurryrigged. Needless to say I fixed it, and did a custom install with the VistaCruise.

Enjoy the trip my friend.
