I had to break the latch on my glovebox to get to my cell phone when my harness fried and left me stranded. I just checked and a new box is $240......ouch!! And thoughts on a way to repair the one I've got. the loop on the lid is broken.

I don't have any pics, but I took a welding rod that was like a thin wire but super stiff, bent it into a little square and used PC-7 to epoxy it to the remaining latch and recreate the plastic latch. I was able to bend it to make it latch tighter with two needle nose pliers without breaking the epoxy. Works great so far.

The other thing you could do is keep an eye out for someone parting out their bike.

Can you install a small magnetic catch in the meantime? They sell ones for cabinets that pop open when you press on them.

my current solution

You do realize that if you pressed down really hard on the latch, it would have opened the glove box..... Prying up on the lid probably is what broke the latch.

Yamaha uses a very cheap plastic rod to lock the release mechanism on the glove box, A good strong push on the button will bend the rod and open the glove box.

I removed the solenoid from my bike so I can open the glove box at any time

I pried mine open with the key once.. Not too smart I know, but the damned neutral switch was screwing up and the officer wanted the paperwork in it.

Ditch the solenoid..
