There is only one way to keep bug juice from etching your paint-get it off. I don't go to bed with bug juice on. Hydrogen peroxide is the ticket. I carry it with me all the. It has been mentioned on this forum many times. It's kind of like using toilet paper-some people don't.

Last night washed the bike up and cleaned the bugs off..
Your bike is gay.

Don't wash it and you won't notice.

Sheesh.

Good thing you won a twin pack.
My bike is a flame............ out the back..... makes it faster... LOL Good thing it comes in a twin-pack,, I had to use BOTH to clean up.... the bike!

Once you've dropped it the bugs don't really seem like that big of a deal anymore.

I would agree with that......... In my case I probably have 100K miles of motorcycle experience and never dropped or wrecked a 'street' bike.... I tell people that if I have a "drop" or a "wreck", the paint, bugs and the bike are going to be the least of my issues.... Now I tell myself,,, Slow the 'F' down !!!!!!!! I'm going to install training wheels next week just in case !

Nice!

In all seriousness - the metalwork that you did is really schweet!

With your skills you could make some killer hydraulic training wheels that would end up looking cool!

Or you could just ask where they got GalaxyBlue's.

What product do you use from Rejex? Looks like that have several lines of many products.. Thanks !
Wax Max for all surface areas(Fyi-Read the instructions for application).

I just checked mine and found that a couple bugs left what appears to be the chalk outline of their death. Wish I would have known about this problem sooner. I will be sure to clean all bugs off when putting her away. This will keep me very busy here in NC.

I wonder if a body shop can buff them out?

I've never been big on keeping bikes super clean, but I do generally give them a coat of wax shortly after I bring them home. Once waxed, I've had pretty good luck getting bugs and bug debris off without leaving marks in the paint.

There were some thread a few months back that equated having a clean bike with having a gay bike.

There is something about the FJR that makes me want to keep it clean. I've had lots of new bikes that didn't make me feel this way. I'm not sure what it is about the FJR. I've decided though that the Gay bike reference must be in the old time sense of the word Gay, as in Happy. A clean and waxed FJR seems like a Happy FJR.... at least that's the way mine goes. :good:

100 % agree !! Best stuff I have found especially for those damn Love Bugs !!

This product https://www.skygeek.com/61002.html and when you use it put it on paper thin, let dry for about 30 mins, then wipe off and let cure for 24 hrs.. You can add extra layers after curing which will increase the shine and protection but always put it on paper thin. A bottle of this will last you years.

Have a friend that did his Corvette with this and ******* put on almost half a bottle at one time. Took him 2 days to get it all off !

I'm agree with you.... I would much rather have my bike cleaned up and make sure its working properly.... Maybe the people that think a clean bike is gay, are the same people that would have liked to own a dirty *** Harley from the old days... those are probably the same people that are so shallow to use a reference 'gay' as a slur and a public 'look down' to talk and describe other forum members as a disgrace for cleaning your bike........ These people are idiots on several levels........ Someone doesn't have to spit shine there bike every day they ride it, but from a aesthetic view and a mechanical aspect people should keep this SPORT/touring machine cleaned up....

I heard several references to me cleaning my bike up at OEM and how it was gay......... I find this absolutely ridiculous..... I take it all in fun and a joke, but continue as you members see fit........

Don't know what section to put this post in ????
O' yea... the mandatory... I searched this subject on every forum on the planet... and other planets as well...

Got back from EOM and parked the bike for a few days... Last night washed the bike up and cleaned the bugs off.. I have an Black 08', and after cleaning the bike there is 'whelp's' in the paint / clear coat.... I have a ton of different waxes cleaners and such and tried to get off the juice.... This is NOT the remains of the bugs, I carefully cleaned the front end of the bike, Etc.. There where a few big spots that I wanted to concentrate on to make sure these are not just cooked on remains of Bug Guts... After a good amount of time of come to the conclusion that darn near every spot that a bug died the clear coat has kinda 'whelped' up... You can only see this in the cross light reflection of the Sun, Etc.... but its there... If you are two feet away no one would probably ever see it but the bug guts messed up the paint .......

Anyone else notice this on a Black one ? O'well............ still a bad *** bike !!! peace out !
OK, we all know about Pledge......that works fine........doesn't last a long time but works........just got an email on the internet so you know its true lol.........says WD-40 is an awesome bug remover.........have not tried it-use at your own risk-ymmv- may have to go to the gallon bucket of WD yet.........as a bonus it will preserve the electronics in your basic cruise missile no problem...............
