I'm buying an 06 fjr and was thinking of the 4 year warrenty. Where can it be purchased for $400.? I thought it was more expensive.BMort
As long as you're not in FL, you can call D&H and they'll do the 4-yr over the phone for $389. It's all the same thing, so there is no reason to do it any other way.

If you're in FL, the extended warranty is considered insurance and all insurance sold to FL residents is regulated by some state government agency. So you have to buy from a FL dealer. They know this and sell for a lot more.

I can verify D&H are great to deal with, Jerol and Rennae will take good care of you, I have nothing but positive to say 'bout these folks. Like FJRME, I am poor now...REAL poor, SSI disability poor and the YES cost me 1/3 of my months pay...but at 70.00 per hour labor it doesnt take too much over 4 years to appreciate this sort of value. This bike IS my other car and just so's ya know DOWN2, most of us own/have owned many types of bikes..we are motorcycle freakazoids, Yamaha just happens to have the BEST sport tourer...but yer Beemer buds may never forgive you dude... :D I'll have a splaphappycrotchbackdecaflatte now... :)

I bought the three year extended warranty, and don't expect a claim on my '04, but it is great piece of mind. Yamaha on the other hand would look great if they put a 3 year warranty on their bikes. It would diminish any concerns with regards to the dredded 'tick'. At the same time would show a stronger commitment to standing behind a great product.

I bought the extended warranty not only for the unlikelyhood of repairs but more for resale value. I had no idea I would be selling my '04 this soon, but I'm glad the NEXT owner of my '04 will be covered under the extended warranty. I hope to get some of the warranty cost back when I sell the bike, but if not, at least it should make it easier to sell the bike.

And I am getting my AE and the YES from D&H in the Spring (hopefully).

This fng with a 06a model on order will be getting the extended warranty. If local dealer cannot come close to the D&H price I will give them a call. $400 for 4 more years unlimited mileage sounds good to me. I usually do not buy extended warranties. Didn't on the vstrom. Only problem came in the first year so I was covered. The fjr seems much for evolved technology wise. One small problem could potentially pay for the cost of the warranty. Bob

It'll cost me $450 for the 4 year Y.E.S. for my '06A. Piece of mind, re-sale value are my main reasons. One never knows... I had a rear shock replaced on my '03... that would have been about that amount. I paid $350 for Y.E.S. on my '03. I look at it, as part of my farkels for the bike. ;)

my dealer said the YES warranty is over $700 ,list. He offered it to me for $500. Should I expect to get it for $400 ? I noed nuttun.thanks

Gulag, that depends on your relationship with said dealer. If its all about money D&H is cheaper, but I bet if you took the bike to your dealer with a D&H warranty they might not be as...uhh...efficient or expiditious on your repair. If we had decent dealers close in San Antone I would have paid a little more to stay in good with them, but we dont and Alamo Cycleplex service sux, so I went with D&H, but I truly am a people person and would have preffered to deal locally. Sup to you ! Hope this helps, be safe.

If your dealer has treated you well, I wouldn not consider a $111 tax to support them unreasonable at all. I make these tradeoffs all the time and if the local dealer's price on something is in the ballpark, I try and give them my business or they won't be there at some point.

It's not a "D&H warranty". It's a Yamaha warranty. You can even buy it from Yamaha directly if you want to pay MSRP. And the list of people traveling or moving to new areas that woudn't have a "local version" of the Y.E.S. would be legion.

So, I'm asking you Yamaha freaks, why not save the money and believe in Yamaha ?
Why not save the money, believe in Yamaha, AND get the warranty?

When I bought my '05, I negotiated an out the door price with the dealer. I then told them that due to the ticking issue I wanted 4 year YES added on at no extra charge. They said they never heard of the tick, but did some checking and agreed to my stipulation. At that time, Yamaha had not been openly agreeing to fix tickers out of warranty. Some things have changed since then, but the point here is you can save money by negotiating the additional warranty as part of the original purchase of the bike.

BTW, I didn't rake my dealer over the coals - I spent what I saved on the YES buying accessories and riding gear. We both walked away satisfied with the deal we made, as it should be.

You can bet your last dollar that if you negotiate a price for a bike with a "thrown into the deal" warranty, you would have been able to negotiate a lesser price without the warranty. And that the difference will probably be about the $400 that it will cost you if you get it after making the deal since that's pretty near dealer cost.

Whether you bought it with the bike or bought it after buying the bike, make no doubt about it - you paid for it.

No doubt there unless you could actually get the dealer to throw it in for free AFTER you make your best deal, but I can't imagine why any dealer will do that. I had dinner at WFO-4 with someone who said he insisted on getting the extended warranty at dealer cost after he negotiated the sales price and ended up getting it for $300. When I picked up my FJR on October 2004, I was told (not by the owner) that the dealer's cost for the extended warranty was $256. I have heard that it has gone up since then but I don't know how much. If Yamaha is willing to sell the warranty to the dealers for that cost, I don't why they don't just add it to the cost of the FJR and sell the FJR with a 5 year warranty -- it seems like that could really boost sales -- of course that would also give the dealers less opportunity to make money on the sale of a new bike.

Dude, thats obvious, what are you, the semantics police, and I was merely making an observation on human nature. Dealers tend to treat one better when one frequents their establishments and purchases farkles etc from them. D&H were wonderful to deal with and will stop by and personally thank them for their kindness on my next trip out east. Ride safe.

Nope. Not at all. I'm simply pointing out that you might have moved into town from somewhere else, might be passing through while on a trip, or any number of reasons as to why your YES didn't come from a specific dealer from whom you are expecting warranty service. A dealership has certain requirements they must meet to get and retain their franchise. Servicing YES covered-bikes is one of those requirements.

I don't have my YES card in front of me. Is there something on it that says anything about where it was purchased? If so, then you could easily have any number of reasons as to why you didn't buy it from a specific dealership. If not, how is a dealership to know where it was purchased unless you tell them?

FJRZON, would you ck your file and see what publication issue that Yamaha confirms the problem--I have no tick yet--and no YES either. I would like to put a copy of that artical in my file just in case. Thanx-bd

The YES card does not say where it was purchased but the documentation that came with the Yes card does and I would think that any dealer could look it up on Yamaha's Warranty data base up if they wanted to. However, as you said, it should not have any impact on their willingness to perform the warranty work.

it is my understanding that the YES is a factory warranty ,, you are buying it from Yamaha not the dealership , hence the factory pays the dealership to do the work , that would be any Yamaha dealership !!

I also got mine included in the deal ,, and I also financed my bike ,, I put a good chunk down and the dealer was all too happy to give me $400 in warranty !!

it's also a great resale item ,,
