I bought my 04 used, 1 year old with a aftermarket warranty that Crapitol Yamaha of Sacramento sold the origional owner. I transfered the contract to my name. I understand even the second owner can buy a YES if the bike is less than a year old. Wish I knew that then. Even tho I had this Western services contract Yamaha put a new head (for free!) on my ticker at 17 months old and 9,500 miles. But I wonder if they would have done this if the bike was over 2 or 3 years old? Don't be a cheap ass- buy the YES, one big repair and its paid for.

Bounce, I really do agree with ya that it shouldnt make a hill of beans where one buys a factory extended warranty from. I'm actually more concerned when I take the Yamaha into an authorized dealer and the salesperson goes and gets the mechanics and says something to the effect of " See, I told y'all we made a Sport-Tourer". This happened to me recently, I spose its the price we pay for some measure of exclusivity. There are some dealers who havent seen an FJR in the flesh much less worked on one. This is what keeps me away from Aprilia,Agusta, et.al ( like I could actually afford one, much less ride it well :D ) But we do agree the YES is a good thing at a reasonable cost no? Do ya know if the Europeans get this same thing offered? I'm just curious...Steph? Ride safe.

I'm sorry Bugnatr, maybe time to order an 06?

Bobby

I agree with the notion of resale value -- if I was going to buy a used FJR, it'd set my mind at ease to know it was covered by the factory warranty after the first year.

Plus the fact that I'm just not that lucky! <_<

(so far, my bike's been excellent, knock on wood)

FJRZON, would you ck your file and see what publication issue that Yamaha confirms the problem--I have no tick yet--and no YES either. I would like to put a copy of that artical in my file just in case. Thanx-bd
Sure Donald, just send me a personal E-mail address to my PM box. I will scan and send you a JPEG.

12k for the bike 400 bucks for insurance you do the math .

Zorkler, $12,000 bike, $400 insurance = $12,400 total. (actually you can't add K's and bucks, but I did some fance mc/2 :nuke: stuff to get $12,400.)
