Not much of a report but a few pics from a great fall ride. I have never run the Cabot Trail this late in the season.

I even managed to find a few construction sites. The Cabot Trail will have a lot of fresh pavement for next riding season.

Nice! Looks like the colours there are a few weeks behind us. Most of them (leaves) are off the trees now. Got out for about 200km today, but it was feckin' cold this morning when I first got out (about 2C). I love my heated liner - oh! and Tom, the heated gloves work just great; first time I've used them plugged in.

Oh, Scott, whose 03 was that? I figure you wouldn't ever let your bike get that dirty, and, you woulda just wheelied over the grimy bits.

Nice pics!

Is it still all torn-up around Ingonish & the Keltic Manor? Or where they're putting in the new bridge just out of Cheticamp?

Coming from Quebec, I couldn't believe how nice the pavement already is.

Lots of construction.

Exit 10 near Gaelic College

Ingonish - slop hole

Cheticamp bridge - still in progress.

All this means nice roads for 2011.

Great ride, I've never run the Trail this late in the season.

Good to hear!!! I am planning on adding a ride around the Cabot when I go out east for the 2011 CFR. On the down side I hear that they are now charging $30 for the tour of the distillery at Glen Breton. :angry2:

I'm thinking the organizers for this years CFR really need to plan for an overnight trip around the Cabot as part of CFR. Simply because its consistently voted one of the top 10 roads in North America, and to not do it, well thats just not right.

Will CFR 2011 be the first 'rolling' rally for the forum?

Vids from my July trip:

Uncut! The first 12 minutes from the West entrance.

Inland Cabot

****! I just realized I never finished editing the vids for this trip!

$30.00 does not sound correct.

Apparently I was given a bum steer. When I stopped in last time I had to throw out some old underwear to make room for the bottle on the bike. I have to admit however that the single malt produced by the distillery is not of high quality. The tour is still worth doing IMHO.

Thanks for the correction.

I took the tour this summer. It was ok. If you know everything about scotch then it probably isn't worth it, but if you need some educatin' in the ways of whiskey, then it's good. They had a 20 or 25 year old barrel that you could pour your own scotch into the bottle. If I liked scotch and it wasn't so damned expensive I mighta gone for it.

Nice pics Scott, esp the filthy bike shot. Musta been nice up there with the roads to yourself.
