As we all know, what goes up must come down... and down we came a staggering 4400 feet in less than 4 miles! The other end of Titlow Hill hooks up to this one... the legendary, the infamous, the stupendous... oh yeah... that one!!!
Not a lot of photos as we were "in the groove" and just having too much fun... it's that kind of road and after a slower pace on the goat roads, we were ready to let the ponies run...
A quick stop at the Wildwood store for some gas and to chat with the owners, Andrew and his brother Joseph, both riders themselves and very knowledgeable about the roads in the area, both paved and dirt... if you're out that way, be sure to stop in and say hi!
The helmet tree out in front of the store... luckily, these were not remnants of any accidents!
As we descended toward Red Bluff, the temperature continued to climb and it was getting hot! I was kind of zoning when Donna spied a cluster of turkeys (the birds, not the people) right off the side of the road... she braked and I spaced but luckily came back to earth in time to avoid any up close and personal moments with Donna or said turkeys! I was wide awake after that!!
We were really looking forward to getting to our cute little motel, The Sky Terrace Motel, and once unloaded, made quick use of the pool there!
Nearest restaurant was a 1/2-mile away and we were in no mood to walk that far in the heat... but wait... what's that right across the street?? Works for us!!
We enjoyed our topping-covered pizza bread with what we had left of our adult beverages and climbed into our cozy single beds which at that point didn't matter what we were sleeping in case we were stick-a-fork-in-me-done!
The next morning, I went out to start loading up and found Donna's leopard-print silk leggings hanging off her bike (no picture so use your vivid imaginations!)... she had left them out to dry the night before and no one took them!
We shared a last hug and smile... I so enjoyed traveling with you, Donna... we don't get the chance to venture out together much so the past two weeks had been a real treat! Then it was time to bite the bullet and slab it home. Down I5, I waved to my comrade as I took 505 toward 80... just after I got onto that part of the freeway, Mother Nature had one more visual treat for me as payment for enduring all that concrete...
I arrived home with no incidents and was greeted by my beloved daughter who kept me company in the garage as I unloaded all my stuff...
Added another few (s)miles to the odometer, both the bike's and mine, making for about 10K miles in the past 10 months. The only thing I have left to figure out is... where to next!!!
Thanks to everyone who made this trip possible... friends, family, angel doctors and nurses, organizers... so many spirits that I carry with me every time I hit the road and enjoy the amazing adventure we call life... I am truly one helluva blessed woman!!
