Camping at NAFO?

Are the campers getting organized? Or is it every cheap ******* for themselves?

I am kicking around the idea of making it to NAFO. Staying at the venue would be my first choice, but camping is more in my budget.

Do you campers want to try to stay at the same place? If so, how many of us are there?

I’d be inclined to stay at the same campground other FJR riders are staying in.

Now we're talkin'. Living in Indiana has made it difficult trying to find just the right spot to camp. I have gotten mixed comments about staying at too high of an elevation (altitude sickness, cold at night, etc.), but this would be my first choice if I was making the trip solo. I had registered at Golden Gate State Park but changed to Bear Creek Lake Park at a lower elevation and only 7 miles south of the Marriott. This is a big park with 50 or so campsites, two of which are Yurts (canvas cabin), with two lakes on site. Seems cool, we will see.

Yes. My buddies and I are staying in one of the Yurts (see "Bear Creek Lake Park" tab on the left then drop down, "Camping Facilities" to check out the pics). Contact: Diane Godeaux (303) 697-6158 for reservations. She did tell me that there is only one Yurt currently but they would have another one built by the summer, which you could still reserve now. There are also plenty of campsites available.

Hey Sully 1300, how about compilling a list of FJR riders that are going to camp at " YOUR" campground instead of paying the high price of the "Motel". Put me down on your list.

Alittle off topic, I saw this and thought of you folks camping.

Found a tent where you can pull your bike into also (drive thru) . Interesting idea. Looked like a pain to set up. Heavy at 26 lbs.

I find it interesting that they showed a Harley and then one of the features of the tent it that it has a removeable oil dripping pad.

That's probably the case for one of the yearly rallys ,,,,(cough "sturgis"). sticky fingers when your in the out house or walking around.

I thought it'd come in handy during rain.Being able to sit on a chair to sip beer/play cards, maybe cook inside (if you dont melt roof).

Hey don't laugh at that bikertent thing. I got the extra large size one, called the F150tent. I'd hate for my truck to get wet when I'm camping.

And a bike cover wouldn't work?

My tent is 4lbs packed and the bike cover is 3lbs. A lot easier to manage/pack than the 26lbs that monster weighs.

I'm renting the first floor of a house here in Evergreen. If I can get my landlady to agree, I'd be willing to rent out space. The only drawback is there is no furniture and one bathroom. I could easily fit 10-15 people since there is plenty of empty carpeted space. But you'd have to bring your own bedding and linens.

It'd be a long shot if she were to agree... maybe if I split the money with her?

The camping was good. The night time temps were great with a little breeze, which made the needed rest much more comfortable. The Yurt (Inside view) that we stayed in unexpectactly had full thickness mattresses - a huge plus. The deck overlooking the mountains wasn't bad either. Mix in an evening cigar and beer - not bad.

I would do it again. And for the price ($7.50 per person per night) it was great. I would still have camped in a tent, but the yurt did make it much nicer.
