I'm a brand-new 08A owner (three weeks!) and today I did my first 300 mile day - bringing the odo to 1,089.

In CA - up the 126 to Valencia, over to Frazier Park, down the back side to the 166, over to the 33 - back through Ojai, over to Fillmore and back to Moorpark.

All I can say is WOW :clapping:

Thanks to all the folks on this forum that helped me make the FJR decision over the ST1300!

I'm astounded at the bike's handling and just overall performance and just plain damn FUN!

Welcome. I had an st1300 and you should be real glad you don't have one of those burners. I too have that grin and have had it since 06. Enjoy.

Thanks rockmurf!

Oh, and I should add - are HD owners slow by nature or just ********?

I had to pass at least 15 of them in a group - twice!

The FJR just likes to go... and I guess if I had to muscle that much chrome through turns, I'd go slow too...

Luckily - I DON'T! :D

If you would do a search, you would see that this question has been answered numerous times...

no...except maybe some smart aleck responses to questions on this board will flatten that smile. :)

Get out and ride...exersize those smile muscles and right wrist. It is your duty as an FJR owner! :clapping:

Fairlaner - got mine at Cal Coast Motorsports in Ventura, CA (https://www.calcoastmotorsports.com/).

wheatonFJR - thanks! Didn't search because I was hoping it was just MY experience... ;-)

My face hurts from the fun. Really, not kidding! It's just so great to be out there - and the FJR is simply the best bike I've ever owned.

(Again, many THANKS to the folks here - your experiences both good and bad really helped me out a lot!)

So it was YOU, would i be correct in assuming that you bought it July 13th?

I went there on the 14th to buy that very bike and it had gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the club Back in the Saddle. I am very familiar with that area. I grew up in Camarillo! Let the farkling begin!

As for the HD owners, they are usually pretty easy to pass, since they are usually pulled over to the side of the road adding more oil!

Hi there,

I purchased my '08 a couple of months ago, (2000 glorious miles ago) and live just around the corner from you in Thousand Oaks. I haven't been on any long rides I use the bike for commuting into Burbank every day.

If you'd like to go for a ride, let me know. Welcome and enjoy.

Ahem.... ummmm.... well.... yep, it was ME.

Sorry about that! I first tried to buy one from Kolbe in Woodland Hills. The sales guy was on the phone, so I went to lunch and came back to buy it - but he had sold it out from under me! I called all the dealers - and they were the only ones that had one in stock.

SORRY, bro!

Bob

Small world! I used to live in Bakersfield for 10 years - had a Honda Sabre back in those days (mid 90's). Spent many a day on the 58...

What farkles did you find the most useful? I have sliders and moved the bars back to the #3 position... any "must haves" in your opinion?

Hi AvBrider! I work in Thousand Oaks (grew up there as well!). It's rare that I get the time to go for a long ride (family out of town this weekend) - but I'm ALWAYS up for a ride!

I'll give you a "heads up" next time. Would love to meet/ride with you.

I always try to "sneak in" a ride after work - down Lynn to Potrero to Huneneme (or Las Posas) and back around the 118. We're lucky to live in a place where the twisties and scenery are both in abundant supply.

I ride through Hidden Valley just about every day. I also ride the back way to Camarillo airport every chance I get to go flying.

Anyway, I'd like to get together, let me know a good time. We can meet in TO or Moorpark.
