Sorry for the confusion. Allow me to clarify...Center stand removal, why not? Don't know. I say go for it, for Pete's sake!!
By the way, thinking about shooting myself in the foot with a .45 hollow point this evening, but I'm going to need to get drunk and fire off a couple of practice rounds first. Can anyone think of any reason that I shoudn't?
Your confusing me Steel, which question do you want answered, the one about getting drunk or the one about using hollow points? By the way, are you really such a bad shot that you need the practice rounds? And whose foot would you use for those practice rounds?
Bluesman, now you're talking. Tire mileage sucks, I don't care who you ask. I would recommend a generous application of cold-weld to the outside of the rims and then pushing the bike through deep sand to insure a proper application of sand to the rims. This should increase traction in turns. As the FJR is a large bike, I suggest getting your wife and your mother-in-law to assist in the sand push.Cool. Lets go....I was just talking to OM about tire mileage, and he was thinking of running on the bare rims. Saves tire money and no flats. Comments... thoughts...It is now . . . .Is it Friday yet?
Ahhh... Now I see, Steel is from the great nation of Texas. My secondary home state. Good man Steel!Sorry for the confusion. Getting Drunk - Not an option... gonna happen... case (pun intended) closed.
Hollow Pionts - Optional. More devastating wound cavity. Thoughts?
Practice Rounds - I like to shoot, and I'm thinking that once the foot shot is executed the fun is going to die down quickly. Target(s) for practice rounds are optional. Thinking neighbor's car, and any and all door-to-door salespeople, witnesses and general ne'er-do-wells that may be perusing the neighborhood. Thoughts?
Er...uhm...did you read post # 18? For your reading enjoyment I quote the pertinent section:Could it be that this is the first time this question has ever been asked on this forum?!!??
For more reading pleasure: center stand site:fjrforum.comIIRC, it's been done. To each his own.
The only bikes I've seen blow over were on their center stands. I would think the side stand is quite a bit more stable, generally.Like the topic says I am considering removing it as I never use it. Anyone see or have any problems/regret from doing so? My only concern would be on a very windy day using it to prevent blow over. Has anyone had the wind blow your bike over?
Oh. I don't believe everything I read.Er...uhm...did you read post # 18? For your reading enjoyment I quote the pertinent section:Could it be that this is the first time this question has ever been asked on this forum?!!??

Even if it's on the internet?!?!? B)Oh. I don't believe everything I read.
Considering my very delayed response ( I have legitimate excuses) I assume you have already gotten VERY drunk, fired off at least a box of practice rounds and done some serious damage to your metatarsals. But just in case here are my thoughts:Sorry for the confusion. Allow me to clarify...Center stand removal, why not? Don't know. I say go for it, for Pete's sake!!

Some..., actually like working on motorcycles -- and enjoy the added difficulty. My SiL has a bike with a chain and no center stand. What a PITA to do any T-CLOCK maintenance.
Why would I keep my center-stand...........
.....because I have picked up a nail in my back tire........more tham 300 miles from home........twice !!!!
