It most certainly is shorter but most likely not visible to the necked eye. Hence the Big Foot interferes now when previous it didn't before.

I was talking about another big foot not the one connected to the rider.

But I can see where the new design could be irritating for ergonomic reasons.

I can't speak to the relative ease among various years/gens of the FJR (my '13 being my first one), but I did notice that raising my FJR on the center stand seemed to be exactly as difficult as the NT700 (some 70 pounds lighter) which it replaced. But I also note that, when some bikes (lots of Hondas, certainly the NT) are placed on the center stand, the weight left on the front end as it sits on the ground seems to be measured in ounces. Putting just a bit of weight in the top box, for example, would raise the front wheel off the ground. (Kind of handy in some maintenance tasks, actually.) Essentially the entire weight of the bike is being supported by the CS. Whereas on the FJR there remains substantial weight on the front wheel.

Not a real concern or criticism, just an observation.

Compare that to a 1st gen's centerstand here:

Not the same angle but I had to hold the bike up while snapping the picture.

I think the first gen's center stand step lever is just as high above, but further back from, the rider's footpeg.

By the way Abercrombie, new 2013 FJR and new high zoot Gore-Tex Klim riding gear?

Did you win the MegaBux or something?

Thanks guys! Viewing Fred's images in posting 16 and then the subsequent pictures is the info I was looking for. I had viewed the parts images and part numbers earlier before my initial post but I hadn't zoomed the images to a suitable size to pick up on the difference in the "arm" that you step on. My bad. Very helpful.

Thanks Fred I was trying to load a zoomed picture like yours from Photobucket but the internet at work was crapping out on me last night. The zoomed photo really shows the problem with the redesigned centerstand.

Nope, I'm just a poor firefighter with a motorcycle obsession trying to put myself into bankruptcy.

Oh Lord another center stand thread. Okay, now that's out of the way...

The GenIII center stand foot pedal looks like an outrigger for when the bike tips over. Might even be for kick starting, not sure...

I looked at my 07 next to my 14 and could not really see any difference. There is no doubt the 14 is much easier to get up on the stand. My question is, has anyone gone to a 190/55 on their GenIII? I ask because I want to be sure the rear tire is sufficiently lifted off the surface.
Art, Yes there is still clearence. I am running a 190/55 Bridgestone BT023 and you can still spin it up on the stand. And yes, it is even easier to get up on the stand with the slightly taller tire!

And the centerstand heel is in the way slightly.....
