Well Peeps it's time to get on the ball and sign up for CFO. There's only been a trickle of activity on the registration site found HERE so lets get with it.

For those that might not know what makes this part of the country so nice it's the rivers. There is of course the Mighty Mississippi, which is right out the back door of the host hotel The Best Western Midway but there's also the Wisconsin and the Root rivers. Any rider worth his salt knows what makes good riding and that's GEOGRAPHY! The convergange of these three rivers makes this whole area wonderful to ride through. The other thing that's great about this area is nearly ALL the roads are paved, even the tiniest back road. All so the milk trucks can get to the dairy farms every day.

I don't care which direction you go from La Crosse there's great riding and all kinds of great little towns and villages to explore. There's yard art, steam locomotives, eagles ton of eagles, breweries, cheese shops, houses on rocks, rocks IN houses, Frank Lloyd Wrights house, a UFO house, abandoned aircraft, historical aircraft, Slimy Crud, you can't throw a stone without hitting a scenic overlook, there's Wildcat Mtn., the Mondoro cut... and there's PIE! In the book On the Road Jack Kerouac speaks of pie as "the ultimate travel meal, tasty, compact, nourishing and natural. Like BBQ pie can not lie, it is either real or it is not. The skilled road eater learns quickly to identify the genuine article. The crisp snap of the crust, the cool silk of the filling, the bite of berries picked by human hands. All washed down with hot black coffee". Might I interest you in a slice of Guinness Oatmeal Stout pie ala mode, I'll tell you where you can get some but only if you show up at CFO.

But most importantly all of this is connected together with hundreds of wonderful roads and that is after all is the reason we all ride.

All of this for a rally fee of only $35, but wait there's more...

We're doing something that has never been done at any rally (that I know of) ever before. We're putting on a Rallye. A Rallye like a competitive event type rallye (at a small additional cost). I'll be posting more info on that later but you can see a discussion about what will be known as The Rally Rallye HERE

Enough of my rambling, if your more of a visual person here is a few photos I've taken while scouting out the area.

Come to CFO Mike, I'll show you a spot where you can step across it. :D
Come on up Mike, the water's cool and clear :)

It's long standing midwest tradition to bring your kids up to the Mississippi headwaters for them to scamper across the rocks.

I think that's me and my brother in the Itasca Pic.

OK Boys I'm all signed up! Had so much fun at CFO last year I couldn't resist this years offering of a chance to see cows. :)

I won't get there until Friday afternoon so hoist a few cold ones for me on Thursday.

As if you needed another reason to come to CFO.

Seen on the back of a bulk milk tanker last weekend ,one of those trucks that goes around collecting milk from the farms.

Come Smell Our Dairy-Air

I will be signing up, just waiting on the wife's shoulder dislocation/surgery decision to see if I am signing her up too. What are the deadlines again?

paul from Minnesota
There's no firm deadline for CFO sign up but it will likely be about 9/14/09. We don't have T-shirts to order so we only need to worry about head count for dinner.

Rooms on the other hand need to be reserved by 8/3/09 but that can be easily canceled if need be.

The Rally Rallye deadline is 9/9/09.

Sorry Rick, I'm not going to be able to make this years rally. In my declining dotage it is a river too far.

Have a great time, and be safe.

That's too bad Bruce, we new we'd risk loosing some people fro the western states moving to 'sconie (that's Wisconsin for you non-mid-westerners) Well all except for that Bugnator guy, he'll go anywhere.

Maybe next year!

Anyone with a good pulse leaving from Fargo / Alexandria / St. Cloud / Mnpls area on Thursday AM that would want to ride out to WI together? Call me: 320-808-0330 Tim

Hmmm....I thought I posted up that I am in or this, but maybe not. Anyway, I will be there, and I plan on riding the rally on Friday. Leave Rockford Early Thursday morning to ride a KICK ASS route I have taken up into that area in the past.
