Seriously, an location yet? :yahoo:

Uhm...ahem...hmmmm....I might just pencil early-mid-June on my calendar. Maybe its time to stretch my horizons and visit some of our "Extreme North American" brethren and sisteren.Hey, this is waaaay do-able! :yahoo:
Hey Mike - "might just" will absolutely not do, eh? Ink it in and and get yourself up here. Oh and can you persuade Rogdeb, the Highlanders, the Pegscrapers et al to follow you?

We're not getting any younger you know. :exhappysmiley:

You speaking for yourself youngster ;) .....I talked to Fastjoyride yesterday afternoon about it (09 event)outside the Toronto airport (boy he sure does get around) & the finalization of plans are on their way......eventually.....

Can we time this to be the weekend after the STN National (June 17-18 in Gunnison).

It would be a blast to combine both events

Chris

Hey Chris, where's the ride report/pics from your Gaspe trip?!

They are in works, made it to Labrador, ran out of time for the Gaspe and North Shore but they are only a long weekend away

I’ve just put the side-stand down after a 2 day, +/-500 mile scouting/venue-touring trip through our target areas for CFR2009 (my own little TWN tribute ride – California being out of the question right at the moment). As of tonight I have a short-list of 3 strong venue candidates in 3 different communities to discuss with my committee. All 3 have good availability for the June 18-20, 2009 period so that is rapidly firming up as THE date, unless my committee hates all of my bright ideas…

The things I do for youse guys! Two perfect sunshiny blue-sky days, lots of brand-new asphalt on our target roads (ain’t election years grand?), high 40’s to high 70’s, all of the forest rats stayed where they belonged (in the forest), and no embarrassing roadside chats with LEO’s…

I’ve decided that it’s only fair to post this warning now – for all of you who may be watching this thread and considering a ride with the crazy Canucks in 2009 (and don’t you and Cindy even THINK about not coming Steve!). If you: have a distaste for clear blue mountain lakes, rivers and streams, if you don’t like your roads twisty and smooth (all the way from way fast sweepers to some tight technical stuff, with lots of elevation change thrown in), if you find vistas of endless green forests backed by snow-capped mountains offensive, if you find beer that actually contains alcohol not to your taste, then you will absolutely HATE CFR2009 – because it’s going to have lots of all of those things!

And one more (serious this time) warning while I’m in that mode: These drop-dead gorgeous riding areas are sadly not blessed with large hotels and resorts, so CFR2009 is going to be a fairly exclusive event. The largest venue (should it be selected) will be busting at the seams with only 100 of us there. So please watch your monitors closely - when the registration details go up on this forum in October, I’m going to boldly predict that we’re going to sell out fast. Don’t miss your chance to be part of an awesome 3 days!

I've been fortunate enough to have visited Alberta and British Columbia many times (most recently with TWN who made a note of every Tim Horton's), and have found the things you mentioned to be to my liking.

I'm there.

FastJoyRide is on the case! As soon as I can get over there, I hope to lock up a location in the southern Kootenay Valley.
In order to provide maximum spacing from other regional rides (esp WFO) and the IBR, I am hoping to get a good weekend date in mid to late June.

He's just kidding Wheaton, Gypsy's not going to miss riding roads this good - even if you are coming!

Post up - what do you think of this tentative plan?

I'm in...never been to the Kootenay's!

How many hours do you think from Montreal ?
Pierre, googlemaps says 43 hours....so 2 days outta do it! That will give you 5 hours to sleep in Minneapolis. :)

I'm very pumped by all of these "I'm in" posts - and wait til we do the reveal on the location! Going to have a party!

I love the Kootenays ! We're in ! :clapping: ( looks like I'll have to move the Clan Gathering date a bit tho ! )

Awe hell...

I might as well pencil it in too... :)

Here's an idea... Why not make this the WFO event for 2009?
