Dave, consider toying with the idea of staging an ad-hoc Gathering of the Clans (traditionally, Nocal & Socal) meet-up in Canada. Place hasn't really mattered all that much in the past. Just a good excuse for a great ride and sitting around with wonderful friends. Okay, so the Kootenays are a bit farther than Morro Bay, or Fortuna for that matter (and their version of paella might be a bit unique), but we all like to take long rides. We could pick up Ray in Oregon and Barry and Travis in Washington (and maybe others) along the way!

That is, if the Canuks'll have us.

Joe, we will have lots of space for all of our good neighbours along the Wet Coast - I`m really pleased to see the early interest from so many of our Cali friends! I`m not sure what a gathering of the Clans means in FJR terms, but I'm sure there's a bagpiper or two in the area that I could round-up if that's what's needed! The precious single malt amber liquids so revered by the Scots are available in abundance here - even less expensively if procured at Duty-free on your way North!

We even have lots of room for our midwest friends like Wheaton and Galaxy Blue! - I will keep Gypsy in a neutral corner Mark - don`t worry...

Adam: Appreciate your enthusiasm bud, but all of the regional gatherings are doing their level best to stay out of each others way - not start fights with each other! I met with the other regional organizers in Golden at NAFO, hence the mid-June dates for CFR2009. So CFR is going to be in BC this year, not WFO (as far as I know - I`m not on that committee). But that doesn't mean that the WFO committee couldn't decide to have a future WFO in Canada - maybe even in BC! Given the turn-out for those, they would likely be looking for a bigger center with bigger hotels etc.

I see myself only attending 2 events next year, And CFR and EOM are my choices due to being in areas i have yet to discover!

I just need to get that passport now, Since our USA license does not hold much clout anymore with the international community... :glare:

And the scotch was a big hit at EOM, So i can only imagine the success the Canuckians will receive it!

It's a good idea to get that passport anyway, but my understanding is that you will still be OK if arriving by land until July 2009. You have needed a passport for well over a year if arriving by air though.

Dave I thought the passport regulations were coming in for land borders in June 2009?

Although American's who wish to can obtain a Passport Card which can be used between Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. You can stick it in your wallet instead of carrying around your passport. The website says it is NOT for air travel though so one would still need a passport to fly. Here is the link:

The Islay or Speyside is not.

No mention of the 3 possible venues, yet - IMHO Nelson is as close to the perfect place for a rally you can come: in the centre of the Kootenays, the New Grand Hotel caters to motorcyclists, Toad Rock Motorcycle Campground is just down the road, lots of other hotels, etc. But I'm in regardless!
