My good bud WheatonFJR - one of the nicest luckiest people on the face of this earth...jes to be here at CFR.

You don't mention that you were telling funny stories to this Canadian crew...had me rolling...others as well. Even the wimenz were laughing.

<snip>This one was weird, really strange. This barn gave me total and complete creeps. SpideySense was going off the hook, something bad here once happened.. just ride dcarver, just ride.

Even the barn's "eyes" and "mouth" are open wide in horror.

Approaching Revelstoke. Just are fueling, here comes old Barabus down the road. He decided to take a 25 mile detour with me (baaawaaaaah, it was 125, but he didn't hear me clearly) and we had a GREAT ride. Nice warm sunny temps, wonderful views, and it was just fun riding with my buddy again.

Came across this Trumpet rider, he has a graphic design biz, had just picked his bike up from Castelgar, headed for Nelson.

Is it just me, or does Barry make an FJR look like a moped?

The last leg home.

DSC02151.jpg

This ferry was cool, it's guided and pulled by cables!

Photo op time for Barry and I, me first. It occurred to me that this would be my last ferry for the trip, and probably for a long time ever..

DSC02165.jpg

And now, for the big ending, you tell me, just what is Barry (Barabus) really thinking?

DSC02128.jpg

Because we'd spent the night in Revelstoke, the loop to Vernon and across the ferry at Needles/Fauquier is how we rode to Nakusp. The road from Vernon to Needles is a "hoot"....especially following bluestreek and exskibum.

The ride from Revelstoke to Vernon ain't that bad, neither. In fact....there weren't many "bad" roads in BC. There were, however, some "baaad" roads! :yahoo:

And...er...uhm...Barry's wondering how you're going to feed him. That bag of peanuts simply won't do!

;)

You would do yourself a disservice by not going there someday. The roads are terrific and the scenery is outstanding.

Excellent report, Don!

Just to fill the gap in your ride history, the point in WA you mentioned is westbound I-90, just a few miles west of George, WA at approximately MP 140, and the bridge across the Columbia River at Vantage... and yes, the wind is known to blow in those parts (did you notice the windsocks at each end of the bridge?)

The Columbia widens at that point, as it is the backwater pool from Wanapum Dam, just a few miles downriver.

Another point of interest: If you had looked to your left at about that point, you'd have seen a very nice tribute to the wild horses which were native to that part of the country years ago. There is a herd of them in full "flight" way up on the bluff overlooking the Interstate and river. They are fashioned from steel plate, and while they look life size from the highway, are actually about 15' tall!

Seeing the good times you all had, makes me really sad to have missed all the fun and the good riding. Was keeping the highways safe at the Spokane POE at that time on Graveyard shift! Damn!!!

Don

What a great report! After reading it, I will never be the same .....because I never knew what a snatch was before.

for those folks who say Eric (OCFJR) is crazy for running a car tire?

Don't be picking on Eric now.... Between Him and I, we solved most of the Worlds problems late (really late) one night in the Kuskanax Parking lot....

Great report and a Nice Canadian accent you have developed there Don,,, eh..

Great photo essay Don. Bearly and I solved almost all the problems, "what's that light in the sky?" says I as I notice it's nearly dawn... Sorry if we kept any folks awake. (you shoulda drank more!)

Don rides pretty darn good, and tells great lies stories. Falls off the back in the corners sometimes though. I warned him not to watch the car tire, it mesmerizes following riders and they forget to watch the road.

What a wonderful forum this is!

I had lost full fidelity of the Canadian beauty and people from this ride until looking at it this early morning.

I soo look forward to future rides, of meeting new folks and greeting long lost friends.

Just came back from doing a little scouting for CFR 2010 with the BugR the grand rallymaster and saw this thread pop up again. Reread it all just like it was new :clapping:

Nakusp will be hard to beat I think but we'll give it a good go! Hope to see all you good folks from the west again real soon! :yahoo:
