CROSSING TIME: 20 minutes

D.E.V. GALENA CAPACITY: 50 vehicles – 150 passengers (subject to the approved carrying weight of the vessel)

This means that, when several industrial trucks are being transported, the ferry may sail with empty space on deck.

It would be beneficial if someone would assign a list of default rides for each day, Thurs, Fri, Sat, etc. or just Friday and Saturday. Good solid rides that are the best of the best, that will allow you to ride all day and get back just in time for dinner or other social affairs. The shorter rides can be for those that don't want to ride all day.

Question?????

Is the ride up to Kinbasket Lake by way of Revelstoke Dam too far?

Revelstoke Dam is really cool.

Revelstoke Dam is really cool.
Mica Creek (closest town to Kinbasket Lake) is 140KM (85 miles) north of Revelstoke, and Revelstoke is 80 minutes to two hours+ north of Nakusp, depending on how quickly you like to ride, how often you stop for photo opportunities and especially how well you time the ferry!

Definitely do-able as a day ride but it's about 500KM roundtrip (300+ miles) plus an hour total time on the (free) ferry (2 x 30 minutes), so not a lot of time to dawdle. Google Maps suggests 5.5 hours each way, but that's way too long IMO, more like 4 hours each way plus stops.

Good idea Ken and we'll be doing just that.

Edit: There will not be any daily default rides offered. Given the number of riders and the narrow twisty roads (yee haw) its far better to seek the advice of one of the Ride committee to help plan your day.

So then one ride will be saturated on a specific day?

Uhm...er....the last ride I was on with Kasey in the lead was "interesting".

Sooooo...."Group Ride"....everyone maintain formation! :blum:

I suppose that will help others decide which less populated ride they want to enjoy. :yahoo:

No large group please. :angry2: 3-4 maybe. Anyway, there isn't much traffic on some of these roads and we need someone to pass. I don't mind passing a FJR. :yahoo:

If I ride my ZX-14, I'll be the ONLY one doing the passing...thank you very much. :p
Kinda like riding a 'Busa to a signature FJR gathering?

Why not bring your Corvette or turbo-Miata?

Yes, I am old, crotchety, grumpy, narrow minded and..uhm..er...somewhat outspoken.

I mean, this IS an FJR meet, not an ST.N or Pashnit gathering. And it's a bit different than someone who is "interested" in an FJR or a riding buddy of an FJR owner.

Rant over, soap box returned to its storage place.

But then, whose bike would we jack with if nobody brings an out-crowder?
