Check those fender extenda's

Fenda extenda 0

After 3 years and 25K miles of bing glued tightly in place it decided to jump ship.

I think it actually went through the front fender when it came off.

It shot out in front of me and of course I ran right over it.

Looking in the mirrors all I saw was plastic parts flying about the highway in back of me.

Absolutely no damage to the fender or any where else on the bike.

I think I'll set the next one on with 2 screws, that should yield me a few extra miles.

Concur. Mine made it about 30,000 miles, but only 18 months elapsed before water, grit, and grime made it pop off.

I reset it with screws as I just couldn't prep the surface as good as they probably can at the factory.

My Fenda Extenda has gone through 2 FJR's for a total of 115,000 miles, a lot of that at high speeds/unfavorable riding conditions, and hasn't budge a single bit since the day I glued it on....

Put one on mine, threw away the self-tapping screws, used four screws with Nylok nuts. I also put sealant between extenda and fenda (or mudguard as we know them here).

Muddy, but without the extenda it would have been much worse. Well worth having - and fitting securely

Quick question for anyone ~

All the threads I've seen for the Extenda are for Gen I bikes.

Is there an equal farkle for the Gen II bikes?

Well, that was a strange shopping experience!

Went to the FendaExtenda site as shown by Fairlaner and clicked on Yamaha from the main menu... got a display that called all the Yamaha models Kawasakis!

Went back to "Home" and tried another portal over on the left side, and that time it displayed the correct "Yamaha" nomenclature, but after selecting the "clicky" for FJR1300, in the description of the part, I found myself right back to a descriptor of "Kawasaki" again... not a real positive feeling when I'm about to click on a $42.00 part!

Added it to the Shopping Cart, and was happy to see it displayed correctly, so went ahead and ordered... Vewy, Vewy Stwange!!

Anyway, anone else interested in one for a Gen II Feej, it is P/N 52200 at $42.00, and the shipping and handling is $10.00 from Truckee, CA to Spokane, WA.

Yep....I s'pose I'm not understanding the issue.

I followed Dale's method and had 13K on the '04 when I survived the "cliff diving" experience. I now have over 60K on the '05 and I just went out and tugged on the extenda. It's still tightly glued.

Of course I always drive the speed limit (or under) and never ride on rough roads and I avoid every pothole. :unknw:

Well, CRAP! That'll teach me to jump on the bandwagon so quickly. Had I waited until the above post from our intrepid Warchild, I'd have saved nearly $10 from the total shipped price directly from those fine folks at FendaExtenda.com. otherwise known as StreetFighters by Design of Truckee, CA

Just checked prices at the place Warchild recommends and found I'd have paid $37.95 for the Extenda, and saved nearly $5.00 additional on the shipping charges!

So, guess who I'd recommend? <_<

Finally got around to putting my fender extender on with ABS glue. I hope it holds as well as some have said. I just could not put any holes in the fender, not yet

Anyway resurrected this thread to say thanks too the FJR Forum once again for the ABS tip, and it sure is a clean install.
