Geez!!! I'm sorry I bailed out early to scout a resort...from an old motoX rider, gravel sounds fun!!!

We had a blast and look forward to doing it again.

Larry, thanks for organizing. Alex, thanks for leading me most of the day ... you almost delivered us back to our front door! After all, who needs a GPS when most everyone else has one?!!? ;)

As for Wheaton's adventures on gravel ...well ... it wasn't so much the gravel than it was the very steep grade on some large-chunk loose stuff. But no worries. A ride just wouldn't be a memorable one without a good story! :D

...evidently I do! :clapping:

BTW...I'm a weeny on gravel...and if I can make that hill climb...anybody could. :) Not that anybody would want to though...

KUDOs to those that went DOWN that hill to check on the others...washboard gravel downhill can be fun on a 600lb bike so I'm told.

Glad Alex took over and led the rest of you guys around as griff, blitzer and I took the secret roads. How was the Rock River run?

I'm glad to know that I'm not the last rider on the planet without a GPS! ;)

The Rock River Run up Rte 2 was pleasant (and full of traffic) as usual and I'm always interested to pass by the chunk of the Berlin Wall that is on display in Dixon (which is popularly known as a town where Ronald Reagan lived for a few years of his youth). I applaud Alex' decision in Oregon to cross the river and ride "N. River Rd" along the eastern shore of the Rock River ...I hadn't ridden that section before. Unfortunately, by that time, it was only Alex and myself.

Still, one of the highlights of the day was seeing (and passing) the squids on the customized 'busa. There was something, both, funny and disturbing about seeing the guy hold on to his girlfriend's thigh at 70 mph. I doubt he was feeling amorous ... me thinks she was a reluctant rider and was crying in his ear. I'd be nervous too if I was without a helmet, wearing flip-flops, and a half-shirt (I got a great view of the back tattoo ...err "tramp stamp")!!

It's always an adventure!

Thanks to RCL for organizing the ride/brunch. I had a great time.

It was fun to see some of the old faces again and great to meet new ones.

Alex took the north group down to Starved Rock on a good ride. We then filled up on a big spread for brunch. And then Wheatie took some of us on the ALCAN. (I knew those Motofox stickers would come in handy)

After that we rode some really great road that only Wheaton can find.

All in all a great day and fun time.

Next one?

Sounds like I missed quite an adventure after brunch yesterday. I had to run right home and console my teenage daughter (lost one of her favorite teachers the night before to ovarian cancer). I knew that with Wheaton leading a group back toward home, everyone was likely to experience some roads they never rode before....or, apparently, hope not to ever again

Thanks to all who came out yesterday, some from very far away. It was absolutely my pleasure to coordinate it and it was....as usual.....a really good time :yahoo: It was great to see some old faces and to meet so many new ones. I enjoyed meeting Airboss' daughter, a new rider who took her first long trip with him to join us, as well as Murph's wife (beautiful, intelligent and loves to ride....she's a keeper, Murph). Artistic Rider's Ural was a highlight too. He now can claim that it'll keep up with a pack of FJRs :glare:

I've said it before and I'll say again how impressed I am with the riders I've met from this forum. They're quality riders with HUGELY responsible "ATGATT" attitudes. They're also just great people to be around and I consider myself very fortunate to be associated with them all.

To all heading out to NAFO in the next couple weeks, have a great....SAFE....trip and bring back lots of pictures and stories. Wheaton: don't make me pin a note to your forehead to remind you to pick up my shirt for me :eek:mg:

Artistic Rider: I know you took some pics. Let me know if you need a hand posting them.

Looking forward to the next local gathering and seeing you all again :good:

Thanks for a fun ride guys. It was definitely a therapy ride for me. Ever since my last accident it hasn't been nearly as much fun to ride. My confidence was absolutley shot, to the point that any turn I took was practically upright w/ a little lean as possible. Any turn w/ a lean and I swore the tires were going to sweep out from under me again. I guess the memory from november was a lot deeper than I thought. No matter how much I analyzed and explained it to myself it was an exercise in futility. Until yesterday.

I initially took the rear of the pack that left Woodfield for 2 reasons. 1) If somebody had something happen, I had everything needed in my left saddlebag from an allergic reaction all the way to a Traumatic injury requiring IV meds. and 2) I knew I was slowest and least able out of everyone.

As time went by I saw everyone in front of me doing things that I would never be able to do by myself. After watching all of you making turns at stomach knot tying speeds I figured WTH. We're all riding the same damned bike and I used to do it, might as well now, no better time or group to do it with.So I did.

Trust me, there were a few turns I would've sooner turned around than taken. I guess peer pressure and reality took over and said "Do it". I did and felt butterflies inside of me for the first time in a long time. The ride home was even fun, the bike felt lighter and for the first in a long time me and the feej were in sych, and it felt sooo good.

Here's some pics from yesterday, next time I'll try to get some rolling photos.

Man, you should have said something. I would have shared some of that chilled vodka that I had in my bottle that I was sipping all day long  btw. call me or mail me your cell number. I got a new phone and they screwed up transferring numbers

So that explains why we kept stopping to drink! ;)

Medic, thanks for posting the photos. It's funny that I parked directly in front of the totem pole but never realized it was there until I saw your photograph. I was too wrapped up talking to everyone ... and coveting everyone's farkles!

Do you ever have a day where you just want to go hulk on your computer. Happens everytime I try and post a picture. Heres the link to all the pictures at photobucket.

That's okay...it took me awhile to get it. It's alot easier than you think...you will kick yourself when you finally see what it takes. If someone can show you...the "how to" is posted in one of the threads. All you do is get into your photobucket account and click on the "image code"...that will copy the http picture address. Then press "control" "v" on your keyboard to paste it.

From your linked photobucket account...Here goes

Can any of you Photoshop junkies PLEASE do something with this one?

Maybe a little less of a beer gut...and less grey hair.......and while you're at it, do something with that stupid-ass grin!

Leave that hat, though, it's the coolest thing in the pic ;)
