Has anyone tried these yet?

I saw an earlier post regarding these that has since died. However, there was nobody that had tried them yet.

i have 2 pieces that i either need to repair or replace, and for the cost of these 2 pieces from yamaha, I can get a whole set including both large side fairings, the wheel fairing, the v fairing under the radiator, the headlight fairing with motordrive cover, and the 2 side fairings.

Anyone got any input?

I purchased a set though I'm not going to mess with it until this winter. On casual inspection everything looks fine except for one thing...the color is off so they'll have to be repainted. The set I got looked like cerulean silver in the picture but wasn't - you can never be sure from a picture. If you don't care about exact color match or can deal with repainting I'd say you're OK otherwise it's a shot in the dark.

Could it be that they were painted the 'other' silver color? Maybe it is a perfect match for another model/year?

Given that you have everything in the way of painted parts, would it not be easier to paint the gas tank only, rather than all of the rest of the plastic?

The Chinese silver I got had a aqua blue cast - nothing ever produce by Yamaha. Yes, it would be easier to just paint the tank if that's all there was but there are also the luggage lids. You also have to factor in explaining the same story to every person who knows FJRs how you got one that's aqua blue silver.

I put one on my Ducati 916 a few years ago.

Fitting is ok , the finish is good when new but (in my Case) it has flaked of in a few places especially the piece behind the front wheel.

It was cheaper than getting the original fairing repaired and tidyed the bike up.

I know of a few people who got these fairings for a CBR1000RR. Fit was almost good, it required a bit of playing with. They did not have any heat protection for the exhaust system so that has to be added. Cost and shipping is still reasonable compared to NOS parts. Personally, I would find a local bodyman to repair the parts you have if at all possable.
