I'll double check, but as of two years ago, there was a greasy spoon in Sutherlin, OR with a 5 pound burger on a bun with all the fixings and fries. Eat the burger totally and it was free, otherwise, $15...
I admit I paid the $15 due to ordering with onions... can't stand raw onions. I am hanging my head....
So is the rule so tight on this that NOTHING remains of the ordered burger? Sounds like pickin' nits if they dinged you on the onions...just sayin'.

5 lb burger...that's alot of burger! Like a meat loaf on a bun.

What, no pies on the t shirt?
Niehart, you brought back fond memories to me. Mi Nana, my mother's Mom, made the best Tamale Pie on Earth. My dear grandmother passed away in 1970, so I don't know how close this recipe would be to Nana's. I'm going to make it and see.

1940's Tamale Pie

CDKitchen https://www.cdkitchen.com

Category: Ground Beef Tamale Pie

Serves/Makes: 8 | Difficulty Level: 3 | Ready In: 30-60 minutes

Ingredients:

***Cornmeal Mush:***

1 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup cold water

3 1/2 cups boiling water or chicken stock

2 teaspoons salt

***Tamale Pie:***

8 tablespoons butter

4 cups cooked cornmeal mush

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 green bell pepper

1/3 cup chili powder or to taste

3 tablespoons butter or oil

4 cups cooked ground beef

2 pimientos, chopped

1 1/2 cup black pitted olives (or less), roughly chopped

salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

To cook cornmeal mush: stir 1 cup of cornmeal into 1/2 cup cold water to moisten it, in the top of a double boiler. Then add 3 1/2 cups boiling water or chicken stock and 2 tsps salt; mix well. Set the top over the bottom of the boiler, filled with 1 to 2 inches of boiling water, put a lid on the top and steam the cornmeal for 30 to 45 minutes until the water is all absorbed.

For tamale pie: Beat butter into hot cooked cornmeal; set aside. Fry onion, garlic and bell pepper with chili powder in 3 Tbsp butter or oil until vegetables are just slightly softened, 2 or 3 minutes. Add cooked meat, pimientos, olives and season to taste. Put a layer of cornmeal mush in a baking dish, add the layer of meat filling and cover with another layer of mush. Bake in preheated 350F oven until the mush is crusty on top, about 30 minutes.

Well.....
Come on FJRBluesman, serve up a tough one! Heart Attack Grill is next to Chandler Harley-Davidson. When I am having a 10K service done on my 2002 H-D Dyna Super Glide 88 I walk there for lunch. Been there, done that, got the damn T-Shirt!

At Heart Attack Grill, I'm more likely to have another heart attack from eyeing those red hot A.S.U. co-eds, than the burger!

I salute you!

And I could bring the insulin and nitro ;)
And we could probably find some Lipitor, Caduet, Diuril, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, diuretics etc.

Los Robustos are going to be pretty good customers for the new health system (or any other health system).
It ain't like we'd eat salads all day without Los Robustos...

Every morsel. They had pictures of local dudes who completed the task on the wall. And one dudette

Shiney you better keep late october/early november open for a trip to Arizona. I expect you to be at the first ever Iron Gut Rally. No excuses will be tolerated, especially the old, "I'm on a diet" excuse. No wusses allowed. :nono:

I'm already a thunkin.... My bike is 4000 miles overdue for a valve check, my tires are shot and I'm currently broke. AND I'm not sure i can get the time off work on short notice (yeah, believe it or not this is short notice) without a specific date. AND my wife wants me to get Thanksgiving week off to go see her kid/new grandkid and son-in-law in Oakland, CA. Tight logistics. I'm going to see if I can borrow some money from her.... Too far to drive the KLR. I just rode 275 miles today onLa Poderosa Diabla and I can't feel my ***. But I'm a gonna try to get there. Never been to AZ.

Oh, and fook the diet for that weekend. I stopped the damn pills -- made me a grouch and kept getting me in hot water.

We worry about how much omotorsysles weight, expensive carbon fiber, cut off fenders, mini directionals, BMW K 1300 weighting less then the FJR.

Lot less expensive for the rider to lose 30 LBS. What does that work out to on a HP to weight ratio ?

Maybe worth about 6 HP ?

Great Beemer, I am glad you have fond memories. My wife saw it and aside from her response, "EIGHT tablespoons of butter?! :dribble: " She had me print the recipe and print almost every tamale recipe. "I've been looking for a good Texas tamale recipe for 20 years." Seems her formative years were in the Houston area before moving to Louisiana, and she never got her family's old tamale recipe before it was lost somewhere...

I spent 40 minutes searching, reading and printing tamale recipes. The pain of doing this research was mitigated by someday tasting them....

Just to bring this back on topic a bit, can Tamale's be wrapped and taken on a trip on the FJR and heated easily for a quick lunch or dinner? Saves money and sounds savory.
