LEOs may need them because they engage in unusual riding to do their job,

but crash bars on a FJR ?? That is as wrong as two boys kissing.
What do you consider unusual riding for the CHP? I know they don't use seatbelts, rearview mirrors, front license plates, f/r bumpers, so I guess that would make them alittle odd :cownoy:

Gee, we could put some chicken wire on the bars and extend it around the front tire, put a wire botton on it just about the front tire and our wives could go shopping with it down the isles of Walmart.

It could be their new "Motorized shopping cart" What with the CHP give us next?

Railway mail bag pickup hooks?? ;)

Of course I don't know what the CHP considers crash bars, but I don't think this doesn't look too ugly.

It looks like the Yerpeans have crash bars mounted where the sliders would be' That's what the siren seems to be hanging from.

Never mind the crash bars, what about the extra tupperware? Is this stuff available somewhere? Would like to see more/better pics of it.

It would appear that the FJR is really popular amoung Euro PD's

I don't think it is available, but you could try writing an email to Yamaha Netherlands? Can't find an email addy on their site though, but info@ usually works.

CHP will probably use LED's for all of their lights but the 100watt siren will pose a problem.

I'll betcha with a large order CHP gets a Euro-spec alternator, that will be unavailable to us. You can wait until you get an old run-out version with 60k miles. Then you'll get a large alternator.

But if you know someone on the inside they may be able to order an extra replacement alternator...hmmmmm <_<

Motorgod,

You've got to email me about how you did your avatar, I think its awesome. I liked your web site at crater lake, one of my all time places to go some day. I used to live in Medford and it was really a great place. I also noticed your (camera?) bag on your passenger seat, it almost looks like my tenba camera bag that I usually carry all my SLR & Digital camera/video stuff but I couldn't see how you fasten it to the back seat?

If I got the crash bars then the whole name change thing back to Ponch crops up again.

Ok I emailed info@ and this morning I received the following

Dear Mr. Carmichael,
Thank you for your interest in our products.

As the project manager for government issues for Yamaha Motor Nederland, I am responsible for all the special developments on this motorcycle.

Sofar we have equipped several motorcycles with these fairings, but for the private market these parts are not available.

If you can contact Yamaha U.S. and have them contact us, we can give them information on pricing, distribution etc.

If you want to purchase more than 100 sets, we might be able to deliver directly to you.

These parts are not cheap to manufacture, but they give great weather protection on a FJR1300.

Hope this anwers your questions.

Best regards,

Hans van Zundert

Soo, anyone have a contact with Yamaha-USA?

Wow! Information and communication from a Yamaha employee. Will wonders never cease?

Why can't they do that in this country?
