blah, blah ,blah
Aren't we the sensitive one. I was only CORRECTLY pointing out that others have been flamed on this very forum when they have resurrected very old threads. You don't have to search very far to find examples.

I can do very nicely without all your personal attacks just because we are in disagreement over some very minor point. I really don't know what has gotten into you lately.

Can't we all agree to .... just disagree... We put out on the Forum the bestest we can, sometimes we arrive at the answer two different ways, both correct. Sometimes we disagree. It isn't a contest to see who is right, it is a Forum to present (heart felt, wild guess, where did that come from) the best we have from experience and knowledge about a topic or theme and let the readers all sort it out. I can't tell you the number of times a post of mine needed to have its honor defended but I left the 'ya, but...' off the plate.

Interesting topic... Here's the TB butterflies on my 50K mile '05... I wasn't planning on yanking the airbox but to install my Speedo-Healer, I need to access the speedo signal wire and it happens to be under the @#$!#! airbox. No choice but to pull it (healer is due to my FD gear change). The butterflies all look about the same and everything downstream to the intake valves looks very clean.

Regards,

Mr. BR

Yeah, in another 40k miles it will probably look the same as mine did. I assume that you took the time to clean them now (since you were already in this far)?

That is a good photo of the diameter reduction inside of the throttle bores. You can just see a thin silver line in the spooge deposit where the bottom of the throttle plate would be at rest at idle. Behind it the bore flares down in diameter and you can see about a 1/4" wide band of black deposit before it gets clean. I think that is the deposit that messes up the TBS and causes cylinder to cylinder intake variation resulting in vibration.

I was actually considering just leaving them as-is. However, I can now feel the weight of the FJR community saying "clean them" so I'll do it! I'll give them a gentle cleaning and post up a new picture. I'm guessing a fresh TB synch should be done after that too (no prob..bike does idle nice already).

All clean now or at least cleaner than before. TB synch was still close and only needed small adjustment. Engine was up to temp and I needed to adjust the idle back down just a little to the 1K-1.1K revs. I haven't ridden yet so another small adjustment may be needed. Btw, I wanted to adjust my cold idle rpm down just a little.... turn screw IN? I could not find this info in my Genuine Yam shop manual.

Thanks,

Mr. BR
