Did not pull the trigger this time as another opportunity to spend a lot more money in Australia presented itself. Darn priorities.
Same here, maybe another day. I am sure it's an excelent product but way to many $$$ for the usage. Lets see maybe 2% of my driving time is at night. I spent the money on a new lid instead and will get much more use for the bucks.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a set of Darla's for the Spyder... I had seen this thread and thought it was bike specific (FJRs only) so didn't even think of asking if I could get in on it too. Sent a PM to Linc, he directed me to Lorett, when I pleaded gently she asked Glenn if it would be okay to join in today, and he said YES!! I had met Glenn at the IMS a couple of years ago thanks to SacMike so he knew me and my story so was kind enough to let me in on the deal even though I was a day late (but not a dollar short)!! Can't wait!!

Tyler, that's great the crew @ Clearwater worked with you today... April Fools notwithstanding! :) You're going to like the Darlas on your Spyder, I'm sure the light spread should be pretty good with the wider stance of a CanAm.

Lets see maybe 2% of my driving time is at night.
I did the 2% scratch my head, make up my damn mind deal also. Decided 2% with 80% more light was worth it, especially living in the Pacific Northwet.

Also think I a little more noticeable during the day time.
Yeah, it's a really expensive upgrade that is pretty ridiculous when compared to normal driving lights! But unlike Dave, at least 30% of my driving is at night in the blackness of Midwest northern forest areas which pucker me up every time I ride to work and back. Enough close calls and I feel like I'm rolling the dice every time, especially in the spring when deer and forest rats are running around like Angry Birds on holiday!

I hate spending money, but WILL spend a lot of money if I know it's going to give me an edge in something (comfort with the DayLong saddle, safety with an AdMore light kit, etc.). It all comes down to what you need and where you ride. If you don't ride at night like 08FJR4ME, it's not nearly as high on the priority list as someone that commutes (me) or does long interstate trips with plenty of after dark hours.

As Tyler experienced above, Glenn and Lorett are pretty open and willing to do whatever they can to make their customers happy! That said, I'm going to ask for a little cooperation from the forum at large. Clearwater gave us a pretty big window of time to order in, so if you absolutely MUST have lights and for some reason haven't ordered yet, maybe give them a call today. Otherwise, I would ask you not go knocking on their proverbial door in 2 weeks asking if you can get the discount. That's all, I trust you guys and girls to be amazing as usual, just thought I'd bring that up as an official "soft closure" to this group buy.

By all means, post pics of your sets installed once you get them hooked up! I don't think anyone would mind seeing more pics of our bikes... with lights!

Nice to see somebody, maybe especially a newer member, take on a project like this for everybody's benefit. Thanks, Abe.

As to the riding at nite/riding in the day issue, and as somebody who keeps his on ALL the time (and as somebody who's ridden with friends who also sport Clearwater lights), that extra visibility in full daylight is phenominal. I KNOW other drivers see me better, because when I've had Gfran, or Brodie, or Flying Junior behind me--sometimes WAY behind me in any kind of traffic--that bike, even among many other bikes, just LEAPS out in my mirror from the rest of the pack. It's a nice feeling, having them too.

FWIW

I do have some high intensity LED's on the forks which I am sure show up very well during the daytime hours. I may eventually jump on a set of Krista's but I just rather make some other purchases first which are more important at this time. It's all about choices i guess. Still a great deal and and Kudo's to clearwater for supporting the FJRforum with great prices.

As it's been said, great job putting this together! Really wish I could have taken advantage of it this time, but my up coming trip and a looming suspension upgrade made it not financially feasible. Next time.

 
Yeah, thanks a lot for putting this together. I definitely appreciate being able to purchase the lights at a discount. Now I am (somewhat) patiently awaiting their arrival.

 
Same here. Thank you for arranging this and thanks to Clearwater for supporting us so nicely. Now the patient wait... That is going to be tough but I anticipate it to be worth it!

 
Finally got my Darla's mounted... but its raining and cold so not sure I've got them aimed correctly. Suggestions?

 
Adding to Mike's post, aim isn't really that critical with these bright LEDs. You can play with them some, but the light field is pretty wide. They have to be operated dimmed, and then use the bypass on high beam when you really need the light and don't have oncoming traffic. The light pattern does not have a horizontal cutoff and you will really piss off other motorists if you don't keep the brightness in check.

Suggestion: loosen them a little, have someone sit on the bike so it's level, take a small level and place it vertically against the face of the Darla. Set it to be dead vertical. Lock it down and you're good to go.

Suggestion: loosen them a little, have someone sit on the bike so it's level, take a small level and place it vertically against the face of the Darla.
That's what I ended up doing. Also did it horizontally so that they were both aimed straight forward. Used a long level that was flush on both lights, not sure that you can do that with the Darla's. Forks might be in the way.

I was a bit disappointed, as we were told it would be shipping late March - Early April.

I mentioned I was concerned because my bike is all apart waiting for the lights to show so I can install them. She said she'd check (which she did) and then she said you'll have them before June.

You could have saved yourself a little confusion if you'd read my post (number 110) found here: CLICKY If I recall correctly, Lorett said that there would need to be a delay due to testing and working carefully with those who did the machining, powder coating, etc. My opinion: The Ericas are a NEW generation of really powerful LEDs. The Ericas place six bulbs producing 6000 lumens in the same size housing as the 3 bulb, 2400 lumen Kristas. Seems to me (my humble opinion) that some extra testing and tweaking just shows the quality that goes into every Clearwater light. Designing a product like this might be easier and quicker if the manufacturer didn't care how well they held up over the years.

It's never easy being patient, but I'm sure that the performance of these lights will make it all worth it...

Know what i found out? I can run the Kristas at full blast all the time. I've angled them down about 5 degrees. Not one car has flashed me at night.
