Can somebody clarify for me the true color of the 06 & 07 AEs? I just received my 07AE. It has a light blueish silver look to it. The pics on Yamaha looks like a true silver. The 06 on line looks like the blueish. Can somebody with an 06 and somebody with an 07 give me some feedback as to their colors?

Thanks,

GG

That's what color they are supposed to be. It's called cerulian silver. Same color as the '04. I don't have an '06 or '07... but I have an '04... & it definitely has a blue hue to the silver.

I can't say about the actual color, but I can tell you about color. Color is determined by the absorption/reflection of light. Depending on the materials used, different rays of light will be absorbed, others will be reflected. The brain will make a interpretation of color based on the rays of light received by the eye. Depending on light source (natural, flourescent, mercury vapor, etc.), the color can appear to be different due to the different light waves available for absorption/reflection in the material. Also, if the material (paint) contains mica or "pearls" it will change appearance due to angle of view. Pearls contain suspended materials that act as randomly-placed mirrors and reflect different light rays depending on the angle.

So, pictures of color have a very hard time duplicating actuall color. This is why paint is sold using "chips." Depending on a lot of things like lighting, angle, and even computer screen resolution, pictures may or may not be close to the actuall real-life color.

Cerulean silver, same as the '04.

"Cerulean" meaning "blue" or form of blue pigment.

So, indeed, the '04 and '07 AE are bluish silver in color, especially in the sun.

Is there a bike in that picture? All I see are sky and sea...all cerulean-colored. :)

When are they going to use "man-named" color names? Just call it what it is and we'll know what to expect. If it is bluish-silver in color, call it bluish-silver. Sheesh.

Like the word "mauve." Everytime I hear that, I picure Bea Author.

I can tell you that there was an AE at this years EOM that was nothing like the 04 & 06AE's that I have seen in the past.

It was much more blue.

Yamaha is in touch with its corporate feminine side.

Kawasaki is MUCH different, ever since they adopted Booger Green as their corporate hue. :)

That manly enough for ya there?

Yep. I know what color that is without even looking at the bike. Of course, I do glance down at my finger.

You bought a bike based on a picture?? You are braver than me...I'd have to at least see one in person before I plunked down my hard earned $$$.

Good luck.

ooooowwwww this is too much like school.......making my head hurt :D

I didn't really care about the color. I knew it was some form of silver. If I cared about color as much as the model I was purchasing, I'd have bought the Black Cherry. I bought it for the AE. The dealer hadn't seen that color before. He thought it was awsome. He said he'd swap out the Black Cherry if I wanted. I haven't decided yet. My wife kinda likes it. I don't really care too much. The speed difference between colors is negligible.

Yeah, we'll change that to: "You can't tell from pictures."

Can I get a "bwah" and a "hah" brothers and sisters?

'06 and '07 AEs have the same 'cerulean silver' color; I saw them side by side.

I swapped panels with one, so there's a 'black cherry' AE sitting at my dealer in Sunland Park, NM. Your dealer should happily swap the panels for you free as well, as that'd give them an A bike in cerulean silver. Later.

You can certainly ask, but I suspect a dealer willing to do this is more the exception than the rule. Any bike that has a different color than what is recorded at the factory generally is devalued because it brings up questions of damage history and repainting. And I suspect the labor to do a swap is easily an hour or two. Finally, there is the risk of damage during the swap.

I'll bet that it takes more than an hour or two to swap all of those panels.

Yep, I say my 06AE is a DAMM GOOD LOOKIN BIKE!!! Love that color (I like the black, and the cough syrup too)

I guess I am just easy like that. LMAO
