From the previous forums I am very concerned about mounting a new set of Avon Storms on my 05. My OEM Bridgstones I liked alot and am considing offing my Avon Storms I just ordered that are sitting in my garage. They still have the Parts unlimited band on them and I am highly considering selling them because of all the bad press. Should I mount these tires or sell them?

I loves mine. Make me an offer. If you can beat my installed price of $255/set, I'll take 'em off your hands. (That would be shipping and mounting and the tires.)

Honestly, outside of the few bad front tires from the 'first batch' and relatively low mileage we're getting from the rears, I'm still gonna run them until something better comes along... maybe the PR2's will have better wear. That'd make me change over.

Keep 'em for winter. Bitchin' grip, turn-in, and feel, but I'm at least 75% convinced they don't do well with summer-hot roads. The Avon Azaros always wore out with fewer miles on them in the summer, too...

Well, That ought to seal the deal then... As Mr. Blueman lives in... Shall we say, A rather WARM area!

Checked his profile before I posted - nuttin' on location.

I live in Lake Havasu City Arizona and in the summer its hot as hell. But my real concern is all the talk about head shake. My OE bidgestones are solid as a rock, no weird feels squirming ect or head shake. My real concern is that head shake ****. I here a lot of good on the handling aspect and looked forward to this. But its that headshake crap thats got me concerned about mounting the Storms. thanks for any input.

The head shake problem keeps coming up in the forums are you experiencing any of this.
Did you read this?

But to answer your last question:

My dealer charges $40/rim to change the tires. That's $80 bucks. $255 - $80 = $175. Make it worth my while, I'll take them off your hands for $150 and you pay the freight. I know, I know... I'm a really nice guy to do that, but since you don't want them and all...

Thanks for the info concerning head shake. But the forums sure seem to point the finger at the Storms for Head shake or is this just over-raided in the forums.
My first set caused head shake (wobble). Still got 5k miles out of em and the shake was completely controllable (keep your hands on the bars, or at least one hand).

My second set is a solid as a rock. I can ride, with my handy dandy MCcruise control, for miles, hands free. (As in eating lunch, of course I wouldn't do anything so unsafe.) I now have over 2000 miles on that second set. I expect to get 5-8k miles total. So, if I were you I'd just try them. You might like them.

I new I would get throne into the Pointless Threads. What took so long! Thanks for your opinions. With know real negative press I will be installing then in the morning.

Man I love mine. they grip like a sport tire. I have noticed little if no difference between the Storms and the Azaros. Haven't got to the mileage thing yet. No head shake and 1/4 oz on the front and 3/4 oz on the rear. No cupping like the stones or cracking carcass like the metzler. There has been noted headshake on bikes wearing tires other than the Avons.

BAD, BAD, tires $180.

<poker glasses> I see your $180 and raise you $5

I love mine...no head shake or any wear issues yet (only 1700 miles so far) and I think mine were part of the earlier batch although I just had them put on.

I just had some Metzlers put on and on the short ride tonight they were great. I had a set of storms and put 8500 miles on them in three months. They either cause a wobble or bring out the slight wobble that I am beginning to think the FJR inherently has and makes it much more noticeable. After saying that I would suggest putting them on and using them up, there are too many people on the forum that seem to have their stuff together that swear by them to take a loss on the tires. I did have a front storm that had a bulge that my local dealer replaced so if you get a bad one make them replace it. By the way, I could not find a brand of tire on the forum that did not have some horror story or two associated with them.
