Sock and I did the same route with me on my new RoadSmarts and I wound up with some squaring off as well, even with the dual compund. I did not get the quick turn in that I was hoping for (after my Avon Storms, which I loved), but they are a decent sticky tire, handled well and I should get 5-6K out of the rear and a bit more on the front. (I guess that was a bit of a hijack).

Thank you all.

It has been more years than I care to admit since I was versed in tires for motorcycles, so I appreciate the responses.

I have been trying to get up to date on the current crop from the various manufacturers and have found some holes in the discussions, with the Continentals and (pre-Haulin' Ashe) Dunlops being the hardest about which to find info.

Hmm...

Looks like I might try the Conti's after the Bridgestones wear out.

:)

I've got almost 8k on the Conti Road Attacks, paid $218.00 for both front & back delivered from www.Ride Direct.com, Great tire in the rain, but I'll be switching to the Pilot Road 2s for the next set...looking for better tread life

Umm...

Begging everyone's pardon in advance for the sin which I am about to unleash in prose:

So, I would be looking for a Z spec for the front and a B for the rear?

Does the rear need to be a specific spec?

What the heck is the C spec!? BMW only?

Would I save myself some problems by simply ordering the ContiForce Max for the front and a Road Attack for the rear? Maybe they would wear out as a set?

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. <_<

(Please feel free to wait until "Dog-Pile Friday" to respond if you feel that would be appropriate.)

I have been ordering and using the C spec front/rears from SW Moto with no problems at all.

Conti's site calls for a Z front but notes it may be badged a C in some areas.

I've gone through 2 sets of CRA's (didn't take that long) as prescribed for the FJR1300 (Z & B) .

Very good grip, fair-to-middling tire life, scalloping becoming evident on the rear tire at around 2,500 miles or so.

The first set lasted a mere 3,500 miles on very hot blacktop and "spirited" riding. The second set lasted 1,000 miles more on the same roads but at lower temperatures.

For this reason, I initially switched to Avon Storms and then to Pilot Power 2CTs. If I can't get more than 4,500-5,000 miles out of a tire, then I'd rather go for broke and choose one that will at least give the best performance.

Roughly 5,000 miles, and both rear and front are sadly warn. At first I thought the front was OK, but closer inspection reveals wearing beyond limitations on either side rather than the center of the tire. Roughly 3,000 miles have been freeway and another 2,000+ miles have been spirited country riding.

The Conti Road Attacks had a great begining, for I loved how they turned in so easily, but for the last 500 miles they have become increadingly more difficult turning into corners. I might be able to squeak another 1,000 miles out of them, but doubt they'll last through November, and I have become increasingly less confident in cornering.

Getting ready to place an order for Avon Storms...$260 deliverd. Anybody find a better price?

Wld72,

Thanks, from the little guy  . I could come up with a little diddy for ya, but I'm sure it would always come up a bit short :glare: .

Have a GREAT weekend.

Hey Wld72,

Just confirmed that 10% discount code. I've been able to price match and they'll take an additional 10% over the 10YANNIV code. Sooo, it seems You come up a bit short. :)

Thanks for playing...come back again real soon now; ya hear?

Put a new front skin on during CFR08. It was the only sport/tour tire the dealer had on a Saturday so I took it. Very confident with it during highway rain runs at 80. A little over 3000m so far with just some center flattening occurring. Still working fine.

My experiances with this tire was very disapointing.

On HighWay they were OK and bike unusally firm but on normal roads they have:

- No grip

- No feedback

And on wet they made surface like ice skating not driving.

Definitly will never see my FJR or any other bike again.

For FJR back to RoadSmart or Z6.

Tried Race attack on Hyosung. Better, but then, when replaced with Diablo SuperBike's I saw that they alsa were crap.

So goodby Conti from me for ever.
