Yesterday I opened a letter from OSI Restaurant Partners who own Outback, Carrabba's, Bonefish Grill, Roys, and Flemings and found a nice letter recognizing Jordan's sacrifice in Iraq. The final paragraph about sums it up:

".......we at Outback appreciate our military and salute our heroes. We are so proud and value the adage "freedom is not free". Please accept this small token of our admiration and appreciation."

They included a gift card for $100.00.

Of course the cynics will say its "great advertising" (and of course I'm talking about it on a public forum), but nobody else has done this so I salute them for their effort. Apparently they do this for familes of the fallen and the wounded.

Anheuser-Busch gives active military and up to 3 direct dependants a one-day admission to any of their parks gratis. Not a discount, but FREE!! Clink for details and to register.

We took advantage of that to visit Sea World 3 years ago, Joshua got his wife, sister, and toddler in free, I only had to pay for myself and my wife. They had a thank-you bit before the Shamu show, asking miltary to stand and be recognized.

That's very cool.

Mmm...

Me likey Carrabba's...

And Bonefish...

Damn it. Now I'm hungry and I just ate lunch...

Wow... just... wow. No, $10 or $25 would have been "great advertising" - $100 says "we mean it" and that's rare these days. I'm impressed. :clapping:

I think it's cool. And you don't see some big ad campaign, they just do it and mention it occaisionally. Great to see some corporate leadership that recognizes the sacrifices of our military families.

I was at Seaworld last Thursday and they continue the military salute program on admission. The Shamu show recognized U.S. troops and allies. I was both proud and humbled when my brother stood to recieve his acknowledgement

I lived just a couple of miles down the road from Sea World in San Antonio for over 4 years. I have a son, so needless to say, we went a lot. He loved the Shamu shows. Anyway, whenever they'd do that announcement asking for all military personnel to stand, he'd just up and scream all excited and tell me to stand up.

Still gives me goosebumps.

I've paid more, and come back for more, at establishments simply because they showed appreciation for the military.

Yeah, and they use the TV cameras to put some of the guys on the big screens, too. We were there in July so it was freaking HOT, and Josh was shirtless. Now, he works out, you see, was a wrestler in high school, and is a hand-to-hand instructor in the Army, so the ladies think he's fairly impressive to behold. Apparently they have a female camera operator or director, because one of them found Josh, zoomed in, and they held the shot for like 15 seconds!!!! He's waving and laughing, and then had the good manners to act embarrassed. But you know he loved it!!!!

Just thought I'd add that GM offers a military discount. I'm not up on how it works but, it's there. They now exclude Hummer,Saturn and Saab.

Way good. I normally don't eat at Outbacks but will do so this weekend, just because. Thanks for sharing, Ax.
