Makes me wonder if a new pumped up Venture tourer will follow, like with the Gen-I V-Max? That could be cool!

I wonder what it will cost?
$22,000+

<snip>
MCN estimates £12K which today works out to $23.75K. Bikes in the UK tend to cost more though even with the adjustment of the US dollar since it cost more for companies to business there. Hopefully it will be closer to $15K to $18K in the US.

For a comparison FJR's with YCCS list for £11,999 in the UK.

Mad Max will go around a corner and grind hard parts fairly well. The words LIGHT and FLICKABLE will never be used to describe how it is done. Max is somewhat stable through the corners and is capable of having a fair margin of safety while doing it. I've never minded horsing around a porker to have some fun in the twisties; Max will give you a good workout but it will do the deed. Don't even think of hanging with pure sports, but you can still have some fun. Max's real mission in life is 'point and squirt'. I do miss my Max! After having ridden ~60k miles on Mad Max my wife’s opinion may vary ;)

Two bikes I miss but I am still glad I have the FJR!!

Once I got aftermarket fork springs in my 06 Max, it was a lot more gentlemanly in the corners. However, when I got the FJR, it was a matter of night and day in terms of handling. With my brother on his 89 Max & me on the FJR, I was able to scorch him in the corners & he was hard pressed to catch up on the straight bits...until he dipped into v-boost range.

I'm thinking that the Yammi engineers have heard years of bellyaching about the goosed-moose handling of the stock Max around corners & will likely have tightened up the suspension/frame in the new model. If there is a new model. I'm skeptically optimistic given that they've kept me on the hook for a decade. If there is a new, improved Max I'll be stoked.

While a big fan of the VMax and a potential future owner, I can already imagine the inexperienced riders climbing aboard and looping themselves into next week. All part of the human experience, I guess.

Sorry Jack, but the Venture is the V-Max's daddy. It made it's debut a full 2 years before MadMax. Other than induction(including heads) and cams, the Gen I V-Max is all Venture Royale under the covers.

I will be test driving Gen II of Mr. Max if what we are being led to believe is true. Might be a suitable stable-mate for the FJR and Venture Royale already in the barn.

The frame looks light years ahead of the wobbly gobblin' steel monster of the original Max. Motor looks like it went on a serious weight diet over the original. Tranny is tucked in tight. Induction still makes for a tall power plant, not what you woudl want in the FJR. I would love to see this power plant poured into the Omega frame and suspension of the GTS. Topped with next century updates to the 2nd Gen Venture Royale bodywork and it would make a serious contender to the touring dominance of the Wing.

The Vmax was a nice bike,,,

except for a small, hard to get to gas tank ,, out of date / poor suspension ,, out of date / poor tire selection,,

lack of cornering ground clearence,, didn't like to be pushed into a curve,,

The Vmax was like a 65 GTO ,, go like hell in a straight line,, wouldn't stop or corner worth a damn..

It did have a great motor,, the V boost was interesting ,, great bad ass bike image ,, looked cool...
