They are predicting that this road will be completely repaired in 'a few weeks'.

Rt 123 is a pretty good substitute for 123A. I will have to say that on 123A, two up, we have gotten not only some of the best air on fairly flat roads, we have also gotten some of the best hang time once in the air. Hurricane Mtn road offers some of the ultimate flying but it is higher risk. Come to think of it, it was shortly after a high speed run down 123A that my stock shock gave up and went flaccid. I doubt that a group FJR paced ride down this road would result in launches.

Nice to see ya still hanging around Skip. See what you started with the Bridges ride! Hope to see you down the road sometime.

I'm in!

I'd prefer the 1st Saturday in October but I can probably make it any of the days mentioned.

Ed.

Here we go with the dirt roads!!! Dam!!! lol...lol.. George will just have to give me some training!! lol...lol... this ride sounds like it will be awesome!!! Im in!!!
I love it a little cooler, and im betting the october weather will be perfect!! Heated vest will be packed with me!! :yahoo:

Looking forward to this one.... Im thinking we do a one night sleepover geroge... get up super ealry sat am and go to a hotel wherever we are at the end of the day, then ride home sunday. what do you think?

Good times!!

I am open to anything as far as staying , just need to adjust work schedule once the date is set. Judging by the talk and pics of this ride I think I may need to add some knobby tires on my Vstom and bring that. :D

Fred

Are you planning this for Fri. Oct.2 or Sat. maybe Sun. the 3rd and 4th? The servey said Oct.2nd Sat. but I think Sat is the 3rd. Maybe I'm all screwed up,wouldn't be the first time.

Old Dan

Thanks. I'm the one that's screwed up.

It is Sat the 3rd or Sunday the 4th.

I fixed the survey and was able to retain all of the votes.

So far it looks like people overwhelmingly prefer the first Saturday in October. I am going to propose that we set that as the date for the ride. We could retain Sunday as a possible "rain date" if it looks like a monsoon on Saturday. But I know for some folks it will be hard to maintain that kind of flexibility in their schedules.

Fred,

Will this be an FJR only ride or can I bring my less fortunate relatives along? My wife and daughter-in-law ride their own bikes and are not tall enough to have the 'right' bike.

I can't speak for Fred, but for planning purposes expect this to be a mixed breed ride. One year we had a fellow with a Suzuki join us after he read about our ride ¿someplace? even though he didn't know anyone in our group or have a FJR at home.

Absolutely right, Alan. All breeds of bike are welcome. I would imagine the pace will be a bit sedate for any of the truly sporty types. And if anyone shows up with straight pipes, they go to the back of the pack (then we'll ditch them!)

Sounds good. No straight pipes in my group, except my brother, and he's not invited :p

Yes, I remember the Hayabusa. I had the great good fortune to be right in front of him - spent a good art of the day waiting at every turn so we didn't lose everyone behind him.

Oh, my! That was unkind.

Yes, I remember the Hayabusa.
And so do I. I was riding sweep and Mr. Abusa assured that I didn't have the rest of the people on the ride in sight 90% of the time. At one point he was dawdling at a stop sign so I pulled up and asked him if he planned to actually move and follow the ride or if he had decided to call it quits and go home. He finally made up his mind -- and said he was going home :yahoo:

Well, here's photo evidence that he made it as far as the 6th bridge:

He's the dude in full leathers directly to ionbeam's right, the only one staring directly away from the camera.

Some people are just one percenters I guess. ;)

But I don't remember him at lunch. I guess he left us between those two points somewhere.

Well, not in that picture, but yes, as I remember it, that was a pretty fine day. Cool, but not too cold at the start. Warm, but not too hot by the end of the day. Nobody down. No tickets (issued)!! ;) Good times with good people.

It was Joann and my first group ride with the Feejer crowd after picking up my used '05. I guess, in retrospect, you are the one responsible for what I have become, Skip: an FJR Forum Post Whore!

That's right, it's all your fault!!!

BTW Skip, I think you should do this ride - kind of in a "let's take this dirt road" emeritus Position. The guy leading this ride isn't like the old "only FJRs" guy.
