Came out to CA for a conference last week and got in a great 800-mile ride for the weekend following most of the route Ynotride provided us with on this other thread. After getting the rental bikes (Victory Vision and a Harley Street Glide) returned and most of our stuff packed into the rental car. We were talking with the guy from the rental shop who just picked up his new to him KTM 990 Super Moto (I think). He asked if I wanted to take it for a ride so I grabbed my helmet and went for a ride around the block. Went about 300 feet up the road and was slowing to turn right and some how I locked up the front brake and got launched over the handlebars.

Now I have a broken right leg (femur) and a broken left collarbone. And I have a nice new shiny rod in my leg that I am already able to put weight on. And a whole bunch of road rash since I didn't put on my jacket and gloves.

I was fortunate in that I was here with a coworker to begin with and then my wife was able to come out Tues and has stayed the whole time.

I am at a rehab center within UC Irvine Medical Center. Still not sure of what/when/where as far as getting back to PA.

What a freakin NIGHTMARE. Damn, guy, sorry to hear about this. Totally freak deal. Well, at least it wasn`t YOUR bike. (Hey, sometimes ya gotta laugh to keep from crying.) Good luck with your recovery.

Wow...sorry about that Brian! :(

I had heard that after organizing the Camping Meet in NC that you weren't gonna be able to make it and was wondering why.

Sorry to find out that you have a broken freaking leg!! :dribble: D@mn, is Kali really that dangerous?

Hope the guy's KTM is okay...

:D

+1, Gunny; Get Well Soon Brian, We Stanley Boys are praying for your rapid recovery!

Bummer. Man, you always gotta go easy on a bike you have never ridden before. Especially one like that. I'm not sure who I feel worse for - you or the poor guy with the brand new and now crashed bike.

I'm sure he's thinking 'No good deed goes unpunished' right about now.

Heal well, heal quickly.

That is a total bummer and I'm sorry to hear it.

How did you like the route and ride before the mishap?

Bummer, I hope you heal quick. BTW did it look something like this..
