What do you all think?

I think since he took all those chances, it was going to happen eventually.

should they air his final moments less maybe the end.

?

That's a rather morbid post, but someone will get a hold of the tape and release it - as disrespectful to the family as that might be...

Why would anyone want to see that? Besides, it's already been stated by the production company that cameras were not running when he was stung.

The real story is revealed! This photo documents the shock and horror of the attack of the killer stingray that fatal day.....

Prepare to be horrified!!!

Remove the children and weaker *** from the room!!!

The killer, smelling blood, lets nothing stand in it's way!!!

He said in an interview 2 years ago that when he died, he hoped that it would be caught on film. That's invitation enough for me to qualify for a public airing.

I mean, how many times have we seen the videos of other famous people dying? Think Vic Morrow from the Twilight Zone movie accident, Fabio with the roller coaster accident (OK, so he didn't die, but his ego and his fame sure did after that), the 2500+ people who died in the 9/11 attacks, etc.

Viewing death isn't always a bad thing. Laughing at it or mocking it could be construed that way, but learning from it shouldn't.

I don't think it should be shown. It should probably be destroyed.

But sadly some ******** will probably get hold of it and release it.

What I read was that the Aussie gov't has the tape, as it is standard procedure in death investigations... and if I understood it correctly, would be released back to Discovery Channel. Discovery Channel said they would do whatever his wife wanted, i.e. air 'part' of the show he was filming, or not. I don't see what good it would do to air any of it...everybody knows how it ends....let it pass. I was impressed to read that the guy stood for his principles: reportedly he made 20 mil/yr over the last 3 or 4 yrs. and he used the money to buy up thousands of acres of land in Australia, Fiji, and some other areas (that were designated to be cleared) to maintain the wildlife habitat. He still lived in a 'modest bungalow' as they say, drove an old truck, etc..apparently his unpretentious character was the real deal.

Given time, ebaum or one of those sites will eventually have it.

While scuba diving, like cycling, is inherently dangerous.....I never thought he would die that the barbs of a stingray.........docile creatures they are.

(I figured a snake would get him)

He or his cameraman had to spook it.

As much as I'd like to see for myself exactly how it happened, I don't think it should be aired. Like what was already said here, we all know how it ends.

I think when you mess with wild animals on TV for a living that we, the TV audience, are just as entitled to view the snuff film that results.

While scanning through channels I must've watched him snatch up several hundred poisonous or dangerously toothy species, then hold them up to his face for a cross-eyed close up so why hold back now ?

Southern - while your avatar is very nice, I think the short "vid" there is in bad form. Maybe it's just me.

This is the type of things we are going to be seeing. If it were not for we know what happened that would be funny.

Well for a string ray to attack you you are suppose to be in front of it, that said since he was in 2 meters of water and probably swimming above the ray, it probably was trying to hit the camera man and got him by accident.

Or was he as always tempting fate, most of those shows were filmed to try and control the outcome's.

He was a very likable guy, doing want he was taught to do as a youth, and it was a pleasure to watch and laugh at his antics.

I for one thought it would be a gator or hippo that got him, although many times he barely escaped the strike of those deadly snakes.

I always liked Steve Irwin. From what I have heard and read, what you see is what you got. He talked the talk and he walked the walk. That said.....he may have pushed the envelope one too many times. He was fortunate not to have been taken out by one of those Australian Brown snakes (or some other potentially deadly creature) already.

Sort of like riding a motorcycle. We have all, at one time or another had a close call, that made us go "whew, I really got away with one that time." This just goes to show that no one, regardless of experience is immune. And it can happen in the most unlikely way.

Look what happened to Larry Grodsky this year. I knew Larry Grodsky, and I have to tell you, that I was absolutely floored to hear of his death. In my opinion, you don't get any more proficient at motorcycling skills and focus on safety than Larry Grodsky.

For us it's not stingray's, but deer and women driving mini-vans while talking on the cell phone, or some elderly person that has no business behind the wheel. The list goes on. It just takes one time when we're not quite as sharp as we should be at precisely the wrong moment.

You just never know when this thing called life will be over. And chances are, you'll never even see it coming.

I think the expression on his face makes it somewhat amusing. Now for examples of BAD taste, see below:
