I have a Honda 1300 vtx now and wanting a FJR for commuting every day and long trips. After reading and searching. A lot of folks talk about the fjr vibrations. How bad are the vibration compared to a Honda cruiser.I got to test ride a c14 and it was smoooooth. I'm trying to talk my local dealer into riding the fjr but you know how test rides go. I would hope the fjr is really smooth compared to the vtx but to read some post I question that.So maybe someone has had both or have both and can help me out. I want the fjr over the c14 but it it's not smother than my cruiser who knows Thanks

I also rode a Vtwin for a few years before getting an FJR and, in comparison, the FJR is smooth as hell.

I think alot of the folks coming from sport bikes say it has a "buzz" in the bars at some rpm range, but most of the new FJR riders who spent time riding Vtwins don't notice a thing....or are not bothered at all by it.

I rode the C14 and it is smooth..but not as smooth as the Honda ST...and I would say the FJR fits somewhere in the middle of the two vibe wise.

(and is just the better bike of the bunch in case you did not know)

Hi:

I also came off a V-twin to the FJR (HD SuperGlide Sport). The large scale "thumps" of a V-twin are completely different than the slight "buzz" of a 4 cylinder that the FJR has in some areas of the RPM range. But, the "buz" is a minor thing and certainly not a deal breaker.

What U will find on the FJR that you didn't have on the VTX are:

killer brakes, great acceleration, good wind protection, the ability to ride all day in comfort, reasonable seating position, great cornering capability.... The list goes on.

Get out there and buy one of these awesome machines and join the club.

I bought a new 2009 fjr and have had it for a month now. There is vibration at 4000 rpms and to me is vary annoying, its right at highway speeds 75-80. After a while my fingers start to get a tingleing feeling and others have posted they have had the same problem. The fjr only has a five speed trans, some say its not an issue but after coming off a bike with a six speed i miss it.The stock windshield even all the way up does not protect me from the wind. Yamaha offers a higher windshield its 4 in taller think i will try one. I for sure would test drive one before buying if at all possible.

The Kawasaki is slightly smoother but considerably hotter. I got in the habit of wearing leather, vented gel gloves (Olympia)which help with any slight vibes. I've also added the foam grip puppies to all my bikes (which I really like). Any 4 cyclinder will be considerably smoother than most large twins in either case...

A good throttle sync will also helped with minor vibes and overall running........

Slight buzz in my FJR but after 85 mph it goes away entirely. I now use gel gloves and grip puppy's and hardly ever notice any more. I just synced the throttle body's for the first time this week and will test ride today now that the weather has cleared. JMO FWIW
