Oh for you D&H Guys the Cycle Gear is in Trussville. I picked up a Fank Thomas magnetic tank bag for $20.

They had good prices and a Fair selection.
FJRFencer--where is Cycle Gear in Trussville? My mother-in-law lives in Trussville and I travel there regularly but I have never looked for a bike assessory store, is it on Hwy 11? I gotta checky outy Memorial weekend-my next trip over
I had a Harley guy start talking bikes with me at Starbucks this weekend. He mentioned how great the v-rod was doing at the drags and that Harley and Germany have been working on that motor since the 80's.

I just kept nodding my head and thinking to myself, wow 20 or so years to design a motor. No wonder they keep having financial problems :D

If it'd been a snake it'd bit me! been right by it hundreds of times and never noticed. Went through that intersection back last Easter weekend and saw a guy on a 03 FJR, he exited off 459 and went straight across hwy 11 and straight past Lowes headed up the hill toward the hospital. He was wearing a black and silver mesh crash jacket and a pair of what looked like pleated Docker type pants. Thanx for the info, I'll ck it out Memorial weekend.

I never worry about Harley riders (as opposed to motorcyclists who own and ride Harleys). I can't tell the difference or identify half of their models either. To them, we all ride Vespas, anyhow.

+1

:D I like that - 'performance award' - never heard that one before. I'll have to remember that for the next time ... :dribble:

As far as anyone (who is obviously totally uninformed and non motor head type, certainly not a biker {even if they own a bike}) who ask you if your bike is a Harley - Yamaha - Agusta - Guzzi - Vincent - Indian - etc., who cares? Tell them its the new Cessna, they won't know the difference.

You're old enough to remember the AMF days (the only company that bought them and the one the HMFICs bought themselves back from)?

Yeah, I guess 25 years of increasing sales, stock splits and phenominal growth is a short stint to some...

The HDI stock I invested in 20 years ago has bought me an awful lot of bikes. Hope they keep having these "financial problems"...

When asked...."Is it a BMW" I've always replied...."no, it's quicker, better handling, stops faster, & a lot easier on your pocket in purchasing & maintenance." :D :yahoo: :D

Point taken and still doesn't make my comment about the guy saying they started developing the engine back in the 80's any less crazy. If it really took them that long, which I don't think it did and was my point, it would be an awfully huge undertaking for an engine.

Yeah, back on topic, the cylinder head design comes from the ill-fated Superbike effort of the `80's. Butt, HD has not been working on the engine since the `80's.

Kinda like me. I graduated High School in `65 and college in `85. Butt, military service and such were kinda mixed in the intervening twenty years. I'm not that slow...

Go Porsche! Way to rip off the ignorant Americans! We need another war with Germany so we can steal their scientists again. Maybe someday we'll start educating our own.

Then out of the blue, a Harley guy comes over and calls my Yami a freakin BMW.

I have removed my Yamaha emblems from my tank and I have magnetic BMW emblems I put on my tank to further confuse the uneducated. I have told them this is the new BMW that just came out. It is the first new model since Yamaha bought BMW. :yahoo:

Peeled off the Yamaha patches too, looks nice. Could be a BMW but only cost10,3 and retains final drive oil.... :p

Oh, you kids make me sick. Two wheels is two wheels kids. Even is yours isn't a schwinn....it's still a bike....even though it may be a huffy. I did way cooler things on a huffy then any other schwinn owner out there.
