Came across some info about a lean angle cut off switch. Guess I must be getting senile as it is a complete mystery to me. Whats up with this????????

It is a switch that kills the engine in case of a "tip over".
thank god, I thought it might hinder my chicken strips removal. What a relief. I am getting to old for this stuff I think. Leaving for northern calif tomorrow on a five day twisties ride with 13 riders. Should be a ball as I using my FJR this time instead of my (shhhhhh, Honda vfr) Is that a dirty word here among the purists?????

What parts of NorCal are you planning on hitting?
Plan on about 220 miles per day. All of hwy 36, 96, 3, with side trips to oregon caves and other places ending up where we started at Red bluff.

We do have a member here that had a get off and that switch didn't work. The bike ran on its side at 8000 RPM untill he could get to it, but then it was too late. The damage was done. He replaced the engine on his '03 with a used (500 miles) engine from an '05.

According to the manual, the 'cutoff switch' cuts power to the fule pump if the bike leans over too far. The intention is to stop the engine if you lay it over so it doesn't eat itself from lack of oil flow.

I think another purpose is to stop pumping gasoline all over the place if hoses, etc are broken during a crash. I may be wrong but I thought it was pretty standard practice to kill the electric fuel pumps in cars after a crash as well.
