I am not sure that you have to hit something other then the ground to qualify for the Crash Club. But I agree that the bike must be running and it needs to be moving. But moving backwards (even if you hit something) doesn't count either.

Hey Art
If the only thing you hit is the ground, it isn't a crash...it's a drop!
Mr. Machine (can I call you War?),
First let me state for the record that I don't want to be in the Crash Club.
I remember reading on the Forum about a guy riding on a road that had lose gravel on it and he lost it and slid a good distance. I think there were pictures of the wear on his riding pants. In addition, I think there were pictures showing the place he went down. He called the State Highway Dept and they swept the road and apologized to him. I think he became a crash club member.
Recently on this Forum, a guy was riding home in his neighborhood at night and a car came into his lane and he laid the bike down. I am not sure if the bike then hit the car (but he wasn't on it at the time). I remember the lady backing up and him rolling out the way thinking she was coming to finish him off (I can't remember if she hit the bike again). While I am not an official judge, I would allow this guy into the crash club also.
What exactly do you have to hit to become a member? A curb? A bush? A hill? Sand? A car/truck/motorcycle? A tree (what diameter?)? Personally, I don't think you can "crash" into a 1" diameter tree, but if you are riding a street bike where there are 1" diameter trees, you are effectively in the midst of crashing in my opinion.
Just looking for some clarification.
