Willie, I have family there. They live in Wilsall ang teach in Clyde Park. PM me if there is any thing I can do to help.

Last summer, with my grandson on back, I counted over 100 forrest rats between Clyde Park and Wilsall.

Incredible read, nicely told.

Never heard of someone having a direct hit on a forest rat, and keeping the bike up right.....

.

riding two-up to boot; heavily blessed is all one can say.

.

Sounds like you guys had a direct hit and the bike and 2-up truly out weighed the rat, which caused him to

whip around onto her leg.

.

Anyway that is truly incredible...do go buy a lottery ticket.

As a matter of fact I bought 2 of them today....if we are winners, I will forget very quickly the insurance outcome.

Great read Willie, glad you and the SO weren't hurt too badly...the outcome could have been much worse considering time of day and location. Enjoy the rest of your western visit and definitely invest in lotto tickets...

Willie,

I'm glad you two are mostly okay. I'm sorry you won't be stopping by Walla Walla though. I've got two suckling pigs going in the barbecue at about 1 PM tomorrow. I guess we will have to eat more than we planned.

Tell you what, I'll send you some pics.

They promise to be tasty little suckers!

Bob

There is something about those small towns, lets see someone jump in their car and go find the side bag of a person they just met.

Hope all is well with you two. You have Tracie's cell phone #, don't be afraid to use it.

Willie;

Not that it would have made a difference in a deer strike, but what kind of footwear did MeAsWe have on? Glad to hear you're both OK, and nice job keeping the FJR upright. I was on my way back from northern Wisconsin Monday, and the biggest doe I've ever seen ran out in front of me from the left (heavily wooded) but it was far enough in front of me that I missed her by about 15 feet. Still made me hammer the front brake hard, and tension on the old ring muscle was at redline.

Here's to a rapid recovery.

MeAsWe (or Crystal) was wearing hiking type boots. They cover the ankle but not above. Break was 2 or 3 inches above the ankle.

I don't now if talller boots would have helped or not. Then the question becomes how tall must they be.

In the scheme of things we are doing OK. I have developed a sizable bruise on my left leg starting about 3 inches above the knee joint and continuing down 3/4 of my leg. So I am dropping my score from a 10 to 8

Glad your ok Willie. I wear motocross style boots that are way tall. Good for rocks, I don't think they would have helped in your case....the break would have been up higher. I wonder if her leg and boot tore off the bag and her boot made that dent in the muffler? Ouch!

Have a safe trip home. No more stories like that please.

Wow! I'm glad you guys were not seriously hurt. It was pretty lucky you were able to keep the bike upright with two people while being hit by a deer. I hope you all make it back home without anymore problems. Your wife was quite a trooper thru all that. Damn deer had to pick on the best looking year FJR to boot. Good luck with the rest of your trip

The aftermath of the hit

Crystal is doing well, now that she has her cast on, the pain was getting excuriating with just the splint. Me, I am hobbling around, however I was doing that before the deer hit.
