Now that the whole thing is resolved, Here's how my weekend went:

Friday...get up early, bring the FJR in for some new tires. Got a good price on some PR2's, time to get ready for spring time!

Dropped her off at 9:00, I'll swing by in the afternoon to pick her up.

I call them at around 2:00..."hey, got those tires mounted up? Can I come get her?"

Then some words I might never forget. "Well Sir, we have a problem..."

They dropped my '07 off the lift, bars down, wheels up onto the concrete floor. Yep, really happened.

Rear sub frame snapped off, windshield gone, bars smashed, tank dented, plastics destroyed.

YOU WHATTTTTTT ?!?!?!?!

So after trying to calm down a while, I went to see the damage. I still thought it was some messed up April Fool's joke...could not believe this could really happen. Well, No joke. I took plenty of pictures, got a hold of my insurance company, and met the adjuster at the shop Tuesday morning.

The guy looked at it for about 10 minutes, and told me it was totalled for sure. I signed the title over to them, so they could figure out the value and cut me a check.

So for 4 days, I'm stressing the F*** out, wondering how bad I'm gonna get screwed over this.

Then the story finally gets better...my insurance co valued the bike at $10,700 and dropped the money into my account.

So, a quick check on the web, found a 2013 at a dealer about an hour and a half away. Went to check it out and make a deal last night, and brought her home this afternoon.

Not exactly how I wanted to end up with a Gen 3, but what the hell...it's sitting in my garage right now.

Crazy weekend, or what???

If any of you want to see the damage, I have plenty of pics but couldn't figure out how to post images.

PM me if you can help with pics.

That's about as good an outcome as possible. Congrats on the new bike...and the new dealer.

What was the dealer's name?I need a 2013 too...

but why is *your* insurance paying, not the dealer's?

Won't this raise your rates?
+1, Don let's set up an appt for a tire change

Damn...that's some way to get a new '13!

BTW, I bet your insurance company will be talking to their insurance company to settle things up.

You can betcherass YOUR insurance company will be going after the dealer's insurance company for the $$$.

But YOU need to make sure they follow up on the go-after so your premiums aren't affected.

I didn't have to have my insurance co get invovled, they said it was my choice. The only difference was I would have to pay my deductable, but I would get it back once they settle up with the dealer's insurance company. My rates won't go up at all, and I don't have to worry about their insurance adjuster trying to low-ball me on the claim. Their adjuster hasn't even looked at the bike yet, and I'm already paid.

(and I came out about $2000 ahead, heance the 2013!)

How the hell did they manage to do that????
The bike was in the lift with the rear tire chocked. The new rear was already installed. the front tire was off the bike...the guy said he was on the other side of the shop, mounting the front on the rim. He said he heard the crash, turned around, and the bike was on the ground. Not sure if I buy that...

Don't try and figure out how insurance companies work. Maybe that's why our insurance rates are so high. For you this ended up being a great steal, (oops, deal). "START THE CAR, START THE CAR."

I'd rather not give out the name of the place, but it's not too hard to figure out.

I didn't have to use my company, but I got paid fairly, and fast. My rates won't be going up...my insurance co will get paid by their insurance co...then I get my deductable back.

Wow.

To post pix, you have to save them to something like flicker or photobucket then link to there from here.

It must have been really messed up!

..and Congrats on your new ride - the 13's ARE nice.

Yeah, I'm still not sure how they work. This is the first claim I've ever filed on a bike...hell, I can't remember the last time I filed a claim at all. It's nice to know it does work sometimes though.

Thanks man...I put about 100 miles on the 2013 today! I was glad to finally get some riding in after dealing with this mess all week.

No complaints on the 2013 so far...sweet ride!

$10,700 for your old 07? Sounds like you made out ok and beats the $6000. the dealer may have offered you on a trade deal.

I hope they treated you fairly on the purchase price of the 2013. Sounds like you made out ok.
